Join us for our first session in code.yatra’s “How to” with the brilliant Ted Davis.

The “How to” series is a space for conversations and exchanges with live coding practitioners from across the world. Artists will talk about their ideas, their tools, and what makes live coding live coding for them!

📍Where: Online (YT livestream)

📅 When: Monday, April 28 | 4 PM IST

Ted Davis is a media artist / designer / educator originally from the United States and based in Basel, Switzerland. Since 2010 he teaches interaction design and coordinates the UIC/HGK International Master of Design program within the Visual Communication Institute, The Basel School of Design HGK FHNW.
His work and teachings explore the volatility of digital media through glitch and reactivating older ‘new media’ through newer programming means. His open source projects (basil.js, XYscope, P5LIVE) enable designers to program within Adobe InDesign, render vector graphics on vector displays, and collaboratively
create live coded visuals. With international exhibits, lectures and workshops, he empowers students to take hold of the computer’s ability to design possibilities beyond that of the hand or mouse.

code.yatra—a travelling creative coding collaborative project under the Godrej Design Lab Fellowship. Code.yatra is a year long project that offers simple formats for building skill and confidence around emerging technologies and creative processes. This includes capacity building, masterclasses, performance making, and so much more.

code.drift and code.yatra’s deep practice of situatedness within Indian cityscapes and emerging technology allow for a paradigm shift to challenge dominant narratives of who can create with technology (and how)!

MuseSkôp Origins | We were staring at a lovely Ragamala painting, while wondering how the sound of this Raga might be. There were so many stories hidden in the still scene, we asked ourselves - Would it be possible for the painting itself to respond to our curiosity? Could it sense what we are looking for? Could it tell us more? A few days later... we built our first MuseSkôp prototype using machine learning to bring alive a Gunakali Ragini Painting.
