Fundada em 2015, pelos sócios Alexandre Romanini, Altivo Duarte e Rodrigo Mitre. Como política, minorias, espaço, relações, paisagem, o meio e o afeto.

Fundada em 2015, pelos sócios Alexandre Romanini, Altivo Duarte e Rodrigo Mitre, a Periscópio Arte Contemporânea é uma galeria de arte situada em Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerias, e tem como premissa que a arte pode transformar nossa forma de pensar, proporcionando uma visão para além do que está submerso, deslocando o olhar por cima de obstáculos e barreiras. Isso perpassa pela arte contemporânea, um

a arte que discute as problemáticas dos nossos dias atuais, pensamentos que atravessam nossas vidas cotidianas. Por isso temos como objetivo apresentar propostas expositivas singulares, teses contemporâneas, com pensamento crítico e olhares para o cotidiano que transitam pela pintura, gravura, desenho, vídeo, escultura e performance. Tudo é possível na arte desde que seja uma relação com o pensamento crítico e atual.

A aprovação do Dia Nacional dos Congadeiros e dos Reinadeiros representa um importante reconhecimento das tradições afro-brasileiras que, há séculos, articulam fé, memória e resistência no país. Celebrada em 7 de outubro, a data afirma a força do Congado e do Reinado como expressões vivas da ancestralidade negra e de sua presença constitutiva na cultura brasileira.

É nesse campo simbólico que se insere a recente produção de Diego Mouro. Em um novo conjunto de pinturas, o artista toma como eixo a figura de Nossa Senhora do Rosário e as tradições do Congado, construindo uma narrativa visual onde água, ritmo e o azul operam como forças de proteção, movimento e permanência.

A Mitre Galeria celebra o reconhecimento da data, em diálogo com práticas artísticas que, como a de Mouro, mantêm viva e em movimento essa herança.

The approval of the National Day of Congadeiros and Reinadeiros represents an important recognition of Afro-Brazilian traditions that, for centuries, have articulated faith, memory, and resistance in the country. Celebrated on October 7, the date affirms the strength of Congado and Reinado as living expressions of Black ancestry and its constitutive presence in Brazilian culture.

It is within this symbolic field that the recent production of Diego Mouro takes shape. In a new group of paintings, the artist centers on the figure of Our Lady of the Rosary and the traditions of Congado, constructing a visual narrative in which water, rhythm, and the color blue operate as forces of protection, movement, and continuity.

Mitre Galeria celebrates the recognition of this date, in dialogue with artistic practices that, like Mouro’s, keep this heritage alive and in motion.

Wallace Pato constructs landscapes through fragments: surfaces where scenes from distinct times and states coexist. The paintings operate through juxtaposition and discontinuity, opening space for fabulation as a mode of construction: figures that gather, suggesting forms of coexistence, or a solitary character that suspends any stable narrative. Between proximities and ruptures, a territory in constant reinvention.

“Nothing emerges to illustrate the everyday, but to expand it emotionally. There is a refusal to accept that life can be reduced to violence or lack. What his work offers is another grammar: that of encounter, desire, the sensuality of presence, the beauty that arises among friends, music, love, streets, drinks, backyards, and the excesses that make up life.” — Keyna Eleison

Gê Viana & Manauara Clandestina | Pinacoteca do Ceará

Como parte da itinerância da 36ª Bienal de São Paulo – ‘Nem todo viandante anda estradas – Da humanidade como prática’, a Pinacoteca do Ceará apresenta as instalações ‘A colheita de Dan’, de Gê Viana, e ‘TRANSCLANDESTINA 3020’, de Manauara Clandestina, abertas à visitação até 16 de agosto.

A partir de investigações que atravessam memória, espiritualidade e pertencimento, as artistas articulam práticas multilinguagem para tensionar narrativas históricas e propor outras leituras sobre corpo, território e herança cultural no Brasil.

Como parte da programação da itinerância, Manauara Clandestina também participou de uma roda de conversa aberta ao público no dia 24 de maio.

As part of the traveling program of the 36th São Paulo Biennial – ‘Not All Travellers Walk Roads – Of Humanity as Practice’, Pinacoteca do Ceará presents the installations ‘A colheita de Dan’, by Gê Viana, and ‘TRANSCLANDESTINA 3020’, by Manauara Clandestina, on view through August 16.

Through investigations that engage memory, spirituality, and belonging, the artists articulate multilinguistic practices that challenge historical narratives and propose alternative readings of body, territory, and cultural heritage in Brazil.

As part of the public program, Manauara Clandestina also took part in an open talk on May 24.

Aline Motta | Kunsthaus Baselland

On view at Kunsthaus Baselland, Aline Motta presents ‘Filha Natural / Natural Daughter’ (2018–2019) as part of ‘Mémoires voyageuses’, a group exhibition that brings together artistic practices engaging memory as a field in constant displacement. Curated by Ines Goldbach, the exhibition reflects on how histories are carried, transformed, and reimagined across geographies and generations.

‘Filha Natural / Natural Daughter’ unfolds from the artist’s investigation into her maternal lineage, drawing on oral histories surrounding her great-grandmother, Francisca. Within this field, Afro-Atlantic connections intersect and reverberate, weaving together personal and collective narratives across time. Through moving images, archival materials, and gestures that evoke water as both memory and passage, the work inhabits a space between presence and absence, fact and fabulation.

Em exibição no Kunsthaus Baselland, Aline Motta apresenta Filha Natural / Natural Daughter (2018–2019) como parte de Mémoires voyageuses, uma exposição coletiva que reúne práticas artísticas que abordam a memória como um campo em constante deslocamento. Para a ArPa 2026, a Mitre Galeria apresenta uma seleção de obras de Benedikt Wiertz, no contexto do projeto curatorial ‘Para abrir uma fenda no céu: sonhar a Terra’. O projeto se volta para a escuta dos sinais lentos e implacáveis da terra: a ruína dos territórios, a memória resistente dos biomas, a força geológica que atravessa corpos e paisagens.

A prática de Wiertz se enraíza em um engajamento profundo com a cerâmica como linguagem artística e vetor de encontros. A partir do atelier Xakra, fundado ao lado da artista Joseane Jorge, na Serra da Moeda (MG), o artista desenvolve uma produção que emerge da tensão entre matéria e forma, tradição e invenção. Vasos, totens e objetos escultóricos ganham corpo por meio da brutalidade da matéria e de gestos sutis, revelando texturas, imperfeições e assimetrias que evocam a terra e o fogo, o toque e o tempo.

For ArPa 2026, Mitre Galeria presents a selection of works by Benedikt Wiertz, within the curatorial project “To open a fissure in the sky: dreaming the Earth”. The project turns its attention to the slow, relentless signals of the land: the ruin of territories, the resilient memory of biomes, the geological force that runs through bodies and landscapes.

Wiertz’s practice is rooted in a deep engagement with ceramics as an artistic language and a vector of encounter. From the Xakra studio, founded alongside artist Joseane Jorge in Serra da Moeda (MG), the artist develops a body of work that emerges from the tension between matter and form, tradition and invention. Vases, totems, and sculptural objects take shape through the brutality of material and subtle gestures, revealing textures, imperfections, and asymmetries that evoke earth and fire, touch and time.

Para a ArPa 2026, a Mitre Galeria apresenta uma seleção de obras de Marcos Siqueira, no contexto do projeto curatorial ‘Para abrir uma fenda no céu: sonhar a Terra’. O projeto se volta para a escuta dos sinais lentos e implacáveis da terra: a ruína dos territórios, a memória resistente dos biomas, a força geológica que atravessa corpos e paisagens.

A prática de Siqueira se enraíza em um engajamento contínuo com o bioma do cerrado mineiro, onde vive e trabalha em estreita relação com a terra. A partir de uma observação atenta e do manejo cuidadoso do ambiente que o cerca, o artista desenvolve uma linguagem pictórica ancorada tanto na experiência vivida quanto em uma consciência ecológica.

Siqueira’s practice is rooted in a sustained engagement with the cerrado biome of Minas Gerais, where he lives and works in close relation to the land. Drawing from attentive observation and the careful handling of his surrounding environment, the artist develops a pictorial language grounded in both lived experience and ecological awareness.

To open a fissure in the sky emerges as a metaphor for the encounter between the real - hic et nunc - and the imagined possibility of a desiring future.

Between fire, earth, and minerals, the practices of Benedikt Wiertz, Luana Vitra, and Marcos Siqueira set into friction tradition and invention, extraction and care, affirming art as a space where nature — both “subject of” and “subject to” constant metamorphosis — finds new ways of being perceived, felt, and shaped.

Each work arises as both trace and omen: a listening to the earth and the sky, and to their most abyssal movements. They rehearse the annunciation of a becoming, woven by forces that vibrate and believe in the extraordinary.
