Two lovers leave Hong Kong for Argentina hoping to start over, but distance, desire, and emotional dependence keep pulling them into the same destructive cycle. As their relationship unravels, the vast landscapes of Buenos Aires become the backdrop for a story of longing, loneliness, and the search for connection.

One of Wong Kar-wai's most emotionally raw films, Happy Together transforms a turbulent romance into a meditation on love and displacement. The film captures both the exhilaration of intimacy and the pain of realizing that affection alone is not always enough to keep two people together.

Christopher Doyle's extraordinary cinematography shifts between vibrant color and stark black-and-white, reflecting the characters' constantly changing emotional states. At its center are remarkable performances from Leslie Cheung and Tony Leung Chiu-wai, whose chemistry gives the film its enduring power.

Winner of the Best Director Award at Cannes, Happy Together remains one of Wong Kar-wai's most moving achievements and one of the defining films of 1990s world cinema.
