Meet Haya Mustafa Natsheh, the guest of our first live conversation in the Agora series, Tatreez as a Cultural Language.

Originally from Jerusalem and currently based in London, Haya is a Palestinian Tatreez artist, researcher and educator, and the founder of Qutbeh — Qutbeh.قُطْبِة 🪡.

Working with traditional cross-stitch and Tahriri, a less commonly practised technique historically associated with Bethlehem, Haya brings research and stitching together to explore the cultural knowledge embedded within Palestinian textiles.

The live podcast-style conversation will be hosted by Bisan Saleh.

The session will be held in English.

تعمل هيا بالغرزة الفلاحية التقليدية والتطريز التحريري، وهو أسلوب أقل شيوعًا ارتبط تاريخيًا بمدينة بيت لحم. وتجمع في ممارستها بين البحث والتطريز لاستكشاف المعرفة الثقافية الكامنة في المنسوجات الفلسطينية.

In The Evolution of Palestinian Tatreez, artist and researcher Haya Mustafa Natsheh will explore how motifs, patterns, colours, compositions and regional variations carry histories of land, geography, identity and memory.

Hosted by Bisan Saleh, this live podcast-style conversation offers a closer look at how Palestinian embroidery has evolved while continuing to connect generations and preserve cultural knowledge through every stitch.
