Cameroonians living in the Kingdom of Bahrain say their biggest fear is not just the escalating regional conflict — but the possibility of being unable to leave if the situation deteriorates further due to expired passports.

Following what residents describe as an early-morning retaliatory strike by Iran targeting a United States military base in Bahrain, anxiety has gripped parts of the Cameroonian community in the Gulf state.

One Cameroonian who contacted MMI News from Bahrain said the attack occurred at about 11:45 a.m. local time, in the wake of heightened tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.

“We are living in fear,” the resident said. “Many of us don’t even have valid passports. If things get worse, we cannot run.”

According to community members, hundreds — possibly thousands — of Cameroonians in Bahrain have been waiting for passport renewals for over a year. With no Cameroonian embassy or consulate in Bahrain, they say they feel exposed and without immediate consular support.

The community is now calling on the Cameroon government to urgently address the prolonged passport backlog, warning that in times of crisis, documentation can mean the difference between safety and being stranded.

🦠 WHAT IS DENGUE FEVER?

Dengue fever is a viral infection transmitted to humans by the bite of an infected Aedes mosquito (especially Aedes aegypti).
It is common in tropical and subtropical regions (Africa, Asia, Latin America).

There are 4 types (serotypes) of dengue virus: DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3, DENV-4.
👉 You can get dengue more than once, and second infection is often more severe.

CAUSES

✔ Bite from an infected Aedes mosquito
✔ Mosquito bites mostly during daytime (morning & evening)
✔ Stagnant water: mosquito breeding
✔ Poor sanitation
✔ Rainy season increases risk

⚠️ SIGNS & SYMPTOMS

Appears 4–10 days after mosquito bite
i- High fever (39–40°C)
ii- Severe headache
iii- Pain behind eyes
iv- Muscle and joint pain (breakbone fever)
v- Nausea and vomiting
vi- Fatigue, weakness
vii- Skin rash (red rash after 3–5 days)
viii- Loss of appetite
xi- Mild bleeding (nose, gums)

👉SEVERE DENGUE lead to Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever / Dengue Shock Syndrome.

DIAGNOSIS

✔ Full blood count (CBC):
👉Low platelets (thrombocytopenia)
👉Low WBC
👉Raised hematocrit

✔ Dengue tests:
👉NS1 antigen (early)
👉IgM / IgG antibodies

✔ Liver enzymes may be raised

💊 MANAGEMENT & TREATMENT
Note:-❌ NO specific antiviral drug for dengue, but there are some supportive Treatment which includes:
1. Fever & Pain control

✅ Paracetamol (Acetaminophen)
Dose:
Adult: 500–1000 mg every 6–8 hours
⚠️ Child: weight-based

❌ Avoid:
a. Aspirin
b. Ibuprofen
c. Diclofenac
d. Naproxen
(They increase bleeding risk).

2. Hydration
Infusions like Normal saline.
Drinking more water can really help.
Coconut water can help also.

3. Rest
✔ Bed rest
✔ Avoid heavy activity.

4. Monitor platelets
Repeat CBC every 24–48 hrs

The United States of America has secretly deported nine people to Cameroon, who are not themselves African nationals, Reuters has reported.

The deportation took place on January 14, yet neither Yaoundé nor Washington issued any public statement regarding the arrangement.

According to Reuters, the deportation proceeded despite a court ruling that protected the individuals from such action.

This move aligns with the Trump administration’s pledge to carry out the largest deportation of undocumented immigrants in U.S. history.

“Several of the men and women sent to Cameroon on a January 14 flight from Alexandria, Louisiana, did not know their destination until they were placed on a Department of Homeland Security flight and put in handcuffs and chains,” the news agency reported, citing government documents and attorneys representing the deportees.
