🇧🇬🇬🇧 Таралеж (Erinaceus roumanicus) изваден от пълен с вода басейн, от който се е мъчил да излезе в продължение на 2 часа (записи от камери). За щастие неговия човек послуша интуицията си, а не съвети от ветеринарни лекари да подсуши и пусне, защото така животното нямаше да получи помощ, а има нужда от нея.
Таралежите могат да плуват, но за кратко. После губят сили и просто започват да потъват изтощени, аспирирайки вода в дробовете. Нужно е лечение за да се предотвратят последствията от такъв инцидент, а в случая таралежът е бил зле още преди да падне във водата - много слаб и с гъбички.
Това е разликата между специализирана помощ за даден вид и просто помощ. Специализираната помощ преценява нещата на база знания конкретно за съответния вид и опит конкретно със съответния вид, а видовете животни имат съществени различия и специфики. Всяка друга помощ не е без значение, но няма основа, върху която да стъпи в преценката си.
Много често хората, намерили животинче, решават, че някаква помощ на място е по-добре, отколкото да се търси специализирана, но по-далеч, за да не пътува. Не е по-добре.

A Northern white-breasted hedgehog (Erinaceus roumanicus) pulled out of a swimming pool full of water after struggling to get out for two hours (captured on security cameras). Fortunately, its human trusted their instincts instead of the advice from veterinary doctors to simply dry it off and release it, because that would have left the animal without the help it actually needed.
Hedgehogs can swim, but only for a short time. After that, they become exhausted and simply begin to sink, aspirating water into their lungs. Treatment is needed to prevent the consequences of such an incident, and in this case the hedgehog was already in poor condition before falling into the water - severely underweight and suffering from a fungal infection.
That is the difference between specialised care for a species and simply offering help. Specialised care makes decisions based on knowledge specific to that species and experience specifically with that species, because animal species have significant differences and particular needs. Any other kind of help is not meaningless, but it lacks the foundation needed to make an informed assessment.
Very often, people who find an animal decide that some kind of immediate help nearby is better than seeking specialised care further away, so the animal does not have to travel. It is not better.
