Why does OTTO.ARTISTS ask you to add financial terms to your portfolio?

Because transparency makes professional collaboration easier.

When a company is looking for a creative professional, your portfolio helps them understand your work, experience and skills. But there’s another important question they need answered:

Does this collaboration fit our budget?

Clear financial terms give clients a starting point. They can make decisions faster, approach professionals whose terms align with the project, and avoid unnecessary back-and-forth before a conversation even begins.

At OTTO.ARTISTS, you set your own rates. We don’t determine them and we don’t add a markup to the financial terms you publish in your portfolio.

And having financial terms doesn’t mean setting one fixed price for everything.

Depending on your profession, you can include an hourly rate, half-day or full-day rate, minimum fee, starting price or another structure that works for you. More complex projects, usage rights, exclusivity, travel or additional requirements can still be negotiated separately.

Think of your financial terms as a professional baseline, not a limitation.

They create more transparency for both sides, help companies plan their budgets and give you a clear foundation for future negotiations.

Your work. Your rates. Clearly communicated.

👉 How to add them right now:

We’re currently working on a dedicated Financial Terms section in OTTO.ARTISTS. Until it’s available, add your financial terms as text in the “Explain more about your experience” section of your portfolio.

For example:

Hourly Rate: XX EUR | Full-Day Booking: XX EUR.
Complex projects, usage rights and exclusivity are negotiated individually.

These are examples of structure only. You decide your own rates and terms.

👉 Log in to OTTO.ARTISTS, review your portfolio and add your financial terms today.

Anyone can write a list of skills.

But when someone looks at your portfolio, they want to see what those skills actually look like in practice.

If you say you’re a photographer, show your photography.
If you’re a designer, add your designs.
If you write, share your work.
If you organise events, talk about the events you’ve worked on.

Your projects and experiences give context to your skills and help people understand what you can actually do.
So don’t let your skills sit there as a list.
Give them proof.

👉 Go through your OTTO profile and ask yourself: Can I show an example for the skills I’ve listed?

You don’t always get to introduce yourself first.

Sometimes, someone sees your portfolio before they meet you, speak to you, or even know your name.

That’s why your portfolio should do more than simply list your experience. It should give people a clear idea of who you are, what you do, and what you bring to the table.

Your work, skills, experience, interests and bio all contribute to that first impression.

So take a look at your portfolio today and ask yourself:
“If this was the first thing someone saw about me, would I be happy with what it says?”

Keep your portfolio ready for the opportunities you haven’t met yet.

Your portfolio shouldn’t stay the same while you grow.

Every project you work on, skill you develop, event you take part in, or collaboration you join can add something new to your professional story.

You don’t need to wait until you have a completely new career, a big achievement, or a “perfect” project to update it.

Keep adding. Keep improving. Keep building.
Because your portfolio should reflect where you are now — not where you started.

👉 Log into OTTO and give your portfolio an update today.

Behind every great production is a team nobody sees.

Actors and models are only part of the creative industry.

Every production also depends on photographers, producers, directors, editors, costume designers, stylists, makeup artists, lighting technicians, sound engineers, VFX specialists, production managers, music professionals, creative marketers, entertainment lawyers, PR specialists, cultural managers, curators and dozens of other creative professionals.

OTTO.ARTISTS wasn’t built only for people in front of the camera.

It was built for the entire creative industry.

Whether you create, produce, manage, promote or support creative work, there’s a place for you here.

Choose up to three professional roles, build your portfolio, and become discoverable by production companies, creative agencies, brands and collaborators looking for specialists like you.

If you work behind the camera, it’s time your work became visible.

Which portfolio would make you more likely to reach out?

Two artists can have equally strong work, but if one profile is almost empty, it gives potential clients, employers and collaborators very little to go on.
A professional portfolio should make it easy to understand who you are, what you do, what experience you have and under what conditions someone can work with you.
More information does not mean adding things just for the sake of it. It means providing the right, current and relevant information before someone has to ask for it.

Take a few minutes today to review your OTTO.ARTISTS portfolio:
1. Go to www.otto-artists.com or use the link in our bio.
2. Log in and open Portfolio.
3. Select up to 3 relevant professional roles.
4. Add your experience and indicative financial/working terms in the “Add experience” field.
5. Add current and relevant professional photos to your gallery.
6. Add a video introduction, self-tape or showreel using a standard YouTube video link. YouTube Shorts links are currently not supported.
7. Make sure your contact information is complete and up to date.
8. We strongly recommend keeping your name and portfolio information in English / Latin characters, so your portfolio can also be presented to international professionals and partners.

Your portfolio does not need to include everything you have ever done. It should give someone enough relevant information to decide whether there is a potential professional match.
Your portfolio should answer the basic questions before someone has to ask them.

Incomplete portfolios miss opportunities

Most clients spend less than 30 seconds reviewing a profile. In that short time, they decide whether to learn more—or move on.

A strong portfolio isn’t just a collection of your best work. It’s a complete picture of who you are, what you’ve done, and why you’re the right person for the project.

Make sure you’re not leaving key sections empty:
📝Experience & Pricing
📸 Gallery
🎥 Video & Self-Tape

Even if you’re just starting out, showcasing your journey, skills, personal projects, and ambitions can make all the difference.

Don’t let an incomplete profile cost you your next opportunity.

Complete your OTTO.ARTISTS portfolio today and give clients every reason to choose you.

Your portfolio is often your first impression. Make it count.

Whether you’re a model, actor, musician, dancer, photographer, filmmaker, voice artist or any other creative professional, your portfolio is often the first thing clients review before deciding whether to contact you.

A complete and up-to-date profile makes it easier for clients to understand your experience, services, availability and the value you can bring to their projects.

We encourage all artists to take a few minutes to update their portfolio by:
• adding your services and experience;
• including your working terms and rates (if applicable);
• uploading recent photos and videos;
• adding a showreel or introduction video if you work in front of the camera;
• keeping your portfolio current as your career develops.

Registration on OTTO.ARTISTS is completely free, and at this stage there are no limits on the amount of information, photos, videos or other portfolio files you can upload.
