It is an annual event taking place on the last Saturday of March (Women’s History Month) and the surrounding weeks. The official date of the Fourth International SWAN Day is Saturday, March 26, 2011, and it will also be celebrated throughout the months of March and April 2011. By focusing attention on the work of women artists, SWAN Day helps people imagine what the world might be like if women’s
art and perspectives were fully integrated into all of our lives. People celebrate this new holiday by participating in SWAN Day events and by making donations to their favorite women artists. The long term goal of SWAN Day is to inspire communities around the world to find new ways to recognize and support women artists as a basic element of civic planning. For the first time in Europe, this event will have its own stage, where more than a dozen art forms will be united. There are over 500 SWAN Day events in 14 countries in 4 continents - America, Australia, Europe and Africa in the first three years of the celebration of SWAN Day. In Europe so far this holiday was celebrated in Berlin, Cologne (Germany), Paris (France), Cardiff (Wales) and Rome (Italy) through various forms of art - exhibitions, media meetings, presentation of new talent, etc. but never with such continuity and diversity, as this will happen in Sofia between 6th and 10th April 2011. Organizers of the festival are “Art Nova" Foundation and “Wonderland Events”. Partners of the festival are: Sofia Municipality, Café "Memento”, " Intelligent Systems" Ltd., Accounting "Correct-VLV” Ltd. , Association “Krav Maga Bulgaria”, “Healthy Living”, “Sound Creative Team”, “Grunberg Luxury Chocolate”, “Rank Growers”, Samos Chamber of Commerce, Social Me, Zoom Box Studio and others. The First Festival of Women in Arts will be held under the patronage of the Mayor of Sofia Municipality Mrs. Some of the participants in the First Festival of Women in Arts "SWAN" (Support Women in Arts Now) are Tatiana Foreva (ceramic sculptures), Marietta Despova (landscaping, decoration), Greta Stefanova (art makeup), Zlatka Timonova (folklore dances choreographer), Lena Zaharieva (hand-made cards, packaging, decoration), Nina Koleva (glass paintings), Tania Evtimova (actress, director), Maja Dulgucheva (writer), Dessi Dimova (composer , musician), , Jazz Academy (5 jazz singers) Blagovesta Markova (art hairdresser), Sonia and Angie (Rockacocka - art sneakers), Anna (late art), Nadya Petrova (Healthy Living), Boryana Yankova (choreographer lady style hip hop), Syana Karapanova (wooden figures), Aliona Petrishka (puppet maker), Vera Petkova (photographer), Art Unity, students from New Bulgarian University. The concept of the organizers of the First Festival of Women in Arts "SWAN" is to launch a series of SWAN events that will become an integral part of events in Bulgaria, celebrating Women in Arts through the whole year. SWAN Day (Support Women in Arts Now Day) е нов международен празник, който почита жените в изкуствата. Този ден се чества ежегодно в последната събота на месец март и седмиците около него.
Официалната дата на Четвъртия Международен SWAN Day е събота, 26 март 2011г. и ще се празнува през целите месеци март и април 2011
В първите три години от празнуването на SWAN Day има над 500 SWAN Day събития в 14 страни.
За първи път в цяла Европа това събитие ще има и своята сцена, където ще бъдат обединени над десет форми на изкуството. Има над 500 SWAN Day събития в 14 страни в 4 континента - Америка, Австралия, Европа и Африка в първите три години от празнуването на SWAN Day. В Европа този празник досега е бил отбелязван в Берлин, Кьолн (Германия), Париж (Франция), Кардиф (Уелс), и Рим (Италия) чрез различни форми на изкуството – изложби, срещи на медии, представяне на нови таланти и др, но никога със такава продължителност и разнообразие, каквато ще се случи в София между 6 и 10.04.2011г.
Организатори на фестивала са Фондация „Арт Нова" и Wonderland Events. Партньори на фестивала са: Столична община, “ Café “Memento”, “Intelligent Systems” Ltd., Счетоводна къща „ВЛВ-Корект” ООД, , Сдружение “Крав Мага България”, “Grunberg Luxury Chocolates”, “Sound Creative Team”, “Здравословен живот”,“Rank Growers” , Samos Chamber of Commerce, Social Me, Zoom Box Studio и др.
Първият Фестивал на Жените в Изкуствата “SWAN” се осъществява с любезното съдействие на Столична община, под патронажа на г-жа Йорданка Фандъкова.
Част от участниците в Първия Фестивал на Жените в Изкуствата „SWAN” (Support Women in Arts Now) са Татяна Форева (керамика), Мариета Деспова (озеленяване, декорация), Грета Стефанова (арт грим), Златка Тимонова (хореограф народни танци), Лена Захариева (hand-made картички, опаковки, декорации), Нина Колева (картини на стъкло), Таня Евтимова (актриса, режисьор), Мая Дългъчева (писателка), Деси Димова (композитор, музикант), Благовеста Маркова (aрт фризьор), Art Unity, Вера Петкова (фотограф), Боряна Янкова (хореограф Lady Style Hip Hop), Ана (лате арт), Надя Петрова (уъркшоп здравословно готвене), Сияна Карапанова (дървени фигури), студенти от Нов Български Университет и много други.
Концепцията на организаторите на Първия Фестивал на Жените в Изкуствата „SWAN” е да поставят началото на серия от събития, които да се превърнат в неизменна част от събитията, празнуващи се в национален мащаб в България.
