Folk Marathon

Folk Marathon The very first Folk Marathon began in Vienna on 29th December 2010 with around 40-50 participants from Austria and other European countries.

A New Year celebration of music, dance, friendship and exchange!
5 days of jam sessions, workshops, dancing, concerts, exchange... plus a big New Year's Eve party. The aim of the event was for participants to share music, dance and ideas, meet old friends, make new friends, celebrate the turn of the year, and for the event to have a positive, lasting impact on the folk scene in the city. tinues to be the motivation behind the Folk Marathon. Past events have been held in Prague, Copenhagen, Valparaiso and Tübingen and have had workshops, participants and performances from Sweden, Syria, Algeria, Ireland, Iran, Bulgaria, France, Cambodia, Germany, Chile, the USA and many, many more places! Today, the Folk Marathon is attended by hundreds of musicians, dancers and folkies from around the world!

Dear Folkies,

after the amazing moments of last Folk Marathon we hope each of us started best this new year - may it be full of music and community.

After FM is before FM.
We, the Committee, would like to encourage each one of you out there with the desire to bring Folk Marathon to their town, to start dreaming and to start gathering fellows around you. Build up a team and reach out to us.

During the next weeks we would like to schedule an online meeting with new teams and answer questions reguarding "How to organize Folk Marathon" - If your team is interested, please write us.
If you know that you need time, and project your FM in 2+ years, that's totally okay, let's start the process now.

Another wonderful edition of the Folk Marathon has come to an end. A huge thank you to everyone who trusted the local team in Bulgaria and joined us in Sofia to celebrate dance and music together. We can’t wait to see where the next edition will take us. Until then, we’re sharing some photos to keep those warm memories alive. The time we spent together was truly incredible.

🎉 Folk Marathon Sofia – Registration Update 🎉

We’re thrilled to officially announce that all 300 registration spots for Folk Marathon Sofia have been filled! 💃🕺

You might still see around 40 spots listed in the web— that’s because we’re still waiting for the last payments to be processed. In the meantime, we’re opening a waiting list! https://folkmarathonsofia.com/

If you haven’t registered yet, you can still submit your form to join the waiting list. If a spot become available, we’ll contact you directly with payment instructions. Please do not send any payments before receiving confirmation from us, as this will not secure your participation and we won’t be able to issue refunds.
