Mr. Vassilis Maragos was one of Stefan Gechev’s closest Greek friends and is currently a member of the European Commission. Their friendship began during the last years of Stefan Gechev’s path in the late 1990s when Vassilis Maragos was a diplomat at the Greek Embassy to Bulgaria. Today Mr. Maragos gave an interview at his house in Brussels for Mr. Gechev’s web portal which will be launched by this year’s end. He presented us with a few unique Greek editions of Mr. Gechev’s works as well as some personal dedications and unpublished translations which shed more light on the importance of Stefan Gechev’s overall contribution to the European literature and culture. # # 🇧🇪

Onto the second destination of the project..Following the footsteps of Stefan Gechev we are sailing to Mount Athos. We plan to visit 3 monasteries where he wrote his first book and described in his travel writing from the 1930s.

Hello,
Meet the team behind the project that traces Getchev's life and films places central to it. Our aim is to build a cultural portal that starts with introducing the extensive surrealist literature of one of Bulgaria's most fine poets, diplomats, writers and translators, Mr Stefan Gechev and introduces the reader and viewer through various interviews of people that were close to him.
Here in Athens, we met with Zdravka Mihailova (on the photo: the lady with the white dress) who knew personally Mr Gechev and has translated some of his literature in greek.
