Hello everyone!

My name is Alexander, I come from Italy and I'm the new volunteer based in Kardzhali.

I'm passionate about travelling, meeting new people, discovering new cultures and learning new languages, which is why I studied Mandarin Chinese at University.

Now that I'm embarking on this new adventure, I'm looking forward to experiencing everything that Bulgaria has to offer!

I met different others volunteers, here in Sofia. Mostly frenchs i have to say.

Its cool to enjoy the city together and also to organised some projects.

We participated to a quizz, we have actions with the french institut and schools around Sofia. Events with erasmus students and ESC.
Important to meet people and to discuss about our different experiences each other, also a good way to discover Sofia by night.

The Art Center Karnolsky is organising it biggest festival of the year.
It takes place during a month at the house of culture in Sofia, a very cosy place where people can practise art, express themselves. There is singing class, drama lessons, taekwendo and many other things.

The contest includes, vocals, folklore, instrumental and dance.

Many participants from all around bulgarians are coming.

We organised and helped during the shows, settling the stage, welcoming participants, managing the backstages...

We also tried to do some interviews about volunteering and also about the contest.

With Ines we moved for a couple of days in Kardjali, to see how is it around and also to spend time with Alexander, the other volunteer who is doing his mission there.
Was almost 4h by bus to reach the place, once again far from the mood of Sofia.

Was fun, we understood clearly the difference between the capital and the countryside and was fun to spend time together, Karnolsky's volunteers. ( Alexander your risotto was nice ).

The mountain surplombing Sofia.

I went several times to hike, to slades and just enjoy the nature.
Its quite cool that its possible just 40 min from the capital to have access to an giant playground like that.

Im waiting for the spring to see how its gonna be. But under the snow it was totally magic.

In january i went to Surva festival in Pernik, an International Festival of Masquerade Games. It is a folk festival where thousands of participants from all over the country gather in this city, wearing elaborate masks and costumes to ward off evil spirits.

The festival is deeply rooted in ancient pagan traditions and is recognised as one of the most cherished and significant events in the Balkans area.
Every year, thousands march in the village centre wearing loud metal bells and instruments around their waists.

I was there thanks to the youth center of Pernik who welcomed a lot of volunteers to helps them during the festival and enjoy the shows. I met really good peoples among the participants, hosts and volunteers all gathered for the same purpose.
