My Mind Is a Circle

Circles repeatedly appear throughout Linda Roosens’ work. They symbolize time, change, cycles, and the continuous movement between beginnings and endings. In My Mind Is a Circle, circles drawn with a roller pen create a landscape of thoughts, memories, and connections.
The composition feels both structured and chaotic, much like the human mind itself. Patterns emerge, dissolve, and reappear in new forms. Delicate lines connecting the circles suggest invisible relationships between experiences, emotions, and memories. What first appears abstract gradually reveals itself as a visual translation of an inner world in constant motion.
My Mind Is a Circle invites the viewer to slow down and look closely. Just as thoughts can endlessly return, the circles expand into a network with no clear beginning or end—a reflection of how we make sense of our past, present, and future.

Pieces of Sand and Memories

Made with sand gathered during one of our last trips. Each grain carries a fragment of a moment, a conversation, a silence. What once felt permanent now survives only as texture, traces, and memory.

But it never completely disappears. It remains beneath the surface, shaping who we become next.

The Bermuda Within

The Bermuda Within explores the silent conflict between presence and disappearance, between accepting oneself and longing to escape. A dark diagonal line cuts through the composition like a fault line, dividing two emotional territories while simultaneously connecting them.

At its center rests a triangle shaped mirror, a subtle reference to the Bermuda Triangle — a place associated with mystery, loss, and vanishing without trace. Here, the triangle becomes a psychological space rather than a geographical one: a symbolic destination where doubts, fears, and fragments of identity are drawn inward.

The textured surface resembles weathered skin, eroded earth, or a map marked by time. Layers of copper, rust, and gold suggest memories, wounds, and experiences that have shaped the self. The scattered golden traces evoke moments of resilience and beauty, small signs of light that persist despite inner turmoil.

The work speaks of a universal struggle: the tension between wanting to be seen and wanting to disappear.

The triangle becomes both threat and refuge — a place where one might lose oneself, but perhaps also find a different version of who they are.

Rather than offering resolution, The Bermuda Within captures the fragile moment of suspension between self-rejection and self-acceptance, between escape and confrontation. It invites viewers to reflect on their own invisible fault lines and the spaces where identity drifts, transforms, and re-emerges.

Shared Eclipse

Inspired by the recent solar eclipse, this work reflects on time, memory, and the cycle of life. Between one eclipse and the next, years pass, lives change, and some of the people who once stood beside us may no longer be there.

The heavens repeat their ancient rhythm. We do not. Between one eclipse and the next, entire lives unfold.

Archaeology of Memory

Archaeology of Memory explores the way memories are built, layered, eroded, and preserved. The geometric forms resemble fragments of architecture, foundations, or ancient walls emerging from the surface like traces of a forgotten landscape. Some elements stand prominently, while others recede into shadow, echoing how certain memories remain vivid while others slowly fade.
The bronze and earth-like tones suggest both permanence and decay. They reference the patina of age, the marks left by time, and the beauty found in imperfection. The work invites viewers to imagine what lies beneath the visible surface—stories, experiences, and emotions embedded within the structure.
Like an archaeological site, the piece offers no complete narrative. Instead, it presents clues and fragments, allowing each viewer to reconstruct their own history from the remains.
