“The Tervuren Musical Encounters” Visit the School!

On May 28th, 2026, it was the turn of a group of culture lovers from "The Tervuren Musical Encounters" to visit our school.

After a short coffee break, guests attended a presentation about the school and the history of the Fichermont Monastery, followed by a 45-minute concert performed by some of the school’s students.

The visit continued with a tour of the school, giving the group the opportunity to discover the students’ daily routine and school life.

It is always a pleasure to welcome people who are truly passionate about art, culture, and music!

RTL follows in the footsteps of Sœur Sourire!

As part of a report on the Belgian artist Florian Desman, who is releasing “Un air de Sœur Sourire”, a tribute album dedicated to Sœur Sourire — the nun who captivated the world in the 1960s with the song “Dominique” — the TV channel RTL visited our school together with the artist. They came to retrace the footsteps of the Singing Nun, who lived for many years in the Fichermont Monastery.

A beautiful moment of revisiting history and commemorating an icon!

MMS Graduating students perform in Flanders !

Two of MMS’s graduating students this year, violinist Wout Callens and pianist Valentin Bouchard, gave a beautiful performance on May 12, 2026, during a concert organized by the Rotary Club Sint-Niklaas at the Roosenberg Abbey in Waasmunster.

The abbey, designed in 1975 by Benedictine monk and renowned architect Dom Hans van der Laan, provided a magnificent setting for the evening.

This year, the proceeds from ticket sales will support lectures for parents on how to navigate social media and the digital world in general.

MMS Students introduce young people to the world of classical music !

As part of their Global Perspectives team project, four year 10 students travelled to the OKAN class (a specialised reception class for newcomer students - many of whom were refugees - aged 12-18 ) on Tuesday, May 12th 2026 at Meertalig Atheneum Woluwe, Brussels.

At the class our students gave a music workshop to introduce Classical Music through activities, such as a theatrical interpretation that they developed based on their string quartet performance of Mozart's "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik".

The students present were from all over the world - Afghanistan, Yemen, Rwanda, Turkey, Eritrea , Ukraine and many more.

Most had never heard classical music before, having mainly listened to popular and traditional music from their own countries, but they all said that they enjoyed the music and would listen to classical music again.

It was a very positive and educational moment for all of the students from both schools, showing that music is truly a universal language!

Bravo to all involved !
