How I made the « Laissez-moi respirer » music video (Behind the Scenes) 🎬

When you’re an independent artist or band in the metal scene, you don’t always have a massive budget but you do have ideas.

To turn this track from the EP « Jusqu’à ton dernier souffle » into a music video, I had to rely on DIY techniques, imagination and creativity.

This project was a huge learning experience. It took two months of intense work, covering everything from filming to color grading and editing for YouTube and social media. Since this was the first time I produced a music video entirely on my own, I’d love to know:

Every song starts somewhere.

This video is an archive from the home studio, recorded long before « Laissez-moi respirer » became one of the defining tracks of « Jusqu’à ton dernier souffle ».

No filters. No editing. No mixing. No mastering. No sound enhancement. Just a riff, an idea and the first spark of a song that would become part of the EP.

Finished songs often hide the path that led to them. This recording captures one of those early moments: when nothing was certain yet, when the arrangement didn’t exist, and when the song was still taking shape.

Looking back at these raw recordings is a reminder that every release begins with something simple.
A melody, an atmosphere, a feeling worth exploring.

Billions of marine animals die every year in fishing nets… and almost nobody talks about it. That’s one of the reasons why Laucean wrote « Laissez-moi respirer ».

This song carries two meanings.
A message against overfishing and the destruction of marine ecosystems but also a reminder to keep breathing, keep believing and keep fighting for your dreams in a world that can feel overwhelming.

We’re still rehearsing relentlessly for the upcoming live shows.
Day after day, song after song, surrounded by the same faithful gear that shaped the first album and EP, we keep refining every detail and building the atmosphere we want to bring on stage.

A few concert dates should be announced for late 2026 and we truly can’t wait to finally share these songs with you.

Over the past few months, I have recorded a new EP in the studio.
Autumn, and especially winter, have always been the best seasons for composing music. Endless cups of coffee and tea, long nights and the tranquillity of winter darkness fuel creativity.

It’s a strange feeling, because it was during this same period that I wrote my first album « Ces êtres oubliés ». Some cycles repeat themselves.

I can’t wait to share these four new songs with you.
No surprises in terms of themes: the oceans, animal ethics, overfishing and our impact on nature are at the heart of this EP.

This time, the challenge was considerable: all the songs are written in major scales, which is quite rare in metal.

You’ll still find my signature sound:
🎹 piano
🎸 heavy guitars
🌊 atmospheric melodies

This EP is like a chapter in which I gave my all. The songs are more mature and accomplished thanks to experience (and the team).

And then... it will be time to move on to a second album 😊 But I’ll save that story for later.

I feel that 2026 is going to be a great year.
