This photo is from the first album shoot back in 2024: on the beach, with my first piano.

Feels like another lifetime almost.
So much has happened since 2024 and this is only the beginning.
Right now, we’re working on what’s next including the first live shows (with the bassist and our new drummer in September).

Thank you for all your messages celebrating 2 years of Laucean, it really means a lot 🖤

And here we are already: in just a few days, « Ces êtres oubliés » turns 1 year old on August 31st.

On August 10th, we celebrated 2 years of « We Are Earthlings » and 2 years of Laucean itself, since this was the very first song ever released under this name.
What a journey! 🎸

This track holds a special place: it’s the only Laucean song with an English chorus before the project fully embraced French for everything that came after.
It’s also the song that made people understand what Laucean was really about : metal and shoegaze, a commitment to the oceans and animals, wrapped in that signature blend of nostalgic piano and clean shoegaze guitars.

People loved this song so much, it made its comeback on the album: it was re-recorded and remixed for the 2025 album, breathing new life into where it all began.

I’m so happy to share this original cover art again today. Laucean has grown too.
Once a solo project, Laucean is now a duo and soon a full trio with a drummer, ready to bring these songs to life on stage as a band!

Thank you all for the support since 2024, since the very first day these Facebook, Instagram and YouTube pages went live.
It means everything. 🙏

Alcatraz Festival — what a weekend. 🤟

This year marked my 10th consecutive year as a visitor at Alcatraz Festival. A decade of coming back to this place that means so much to me.

And this time around, it carried extra weight: it also lined up with year 2 of Laucean, since the first single « We Are Earthlings » was released on August 10th, 2024.

The weather was beautiful, the lineup was incredible and honestly, the people made the whole weekend.
So many of you came up to say hi, take a selfie, talk about the music, share your own stories.
Not everyone made it into a photo but I remember every single conversation and every moment we shared.
Fans from Belgium, my home country, but also from France, Germany, the Netherlands, Finland, the US, the UK and so many other places.
I also got to sign some vinyls and CDs of the first album for a few of you.
Thank you for you support!

On top of that, I had the chance to cross paths with artists I deeply admire. Tosin Abasi (Animals As Leader) and Stéphane Paut (Alcest). Moments like that stay with you.

And I’ll say it out loud: one day, I dream of being on that stage myself with my musicians, playing Alcatraz Open Air not as a visitor but as a band.
For now, I’ll keep working towards it with Maxime (bassist) and our drummer, one show at a time.

Thank you to everyone who came to say hello, who supports the band, who makes festivals like this one feel like home.
I hope to see you again soon at another festival or at Laucean’s upcoming shows, starting November 17th, 2026, in Charleroi, Belgium.

2 years of Laucean. 🤟

August 10th, 2024… the day « We Are Earthlings » was released as the very first single.
Back then it was a mix of English and French, before the lyrics found their way to being 100% French.

I never thought it would grow like this.
We’re almost at 1000 on Instagram now, plus a growing crew following on YouTube and Spotify.
Thank you for that.

Since that first single, there’s been more music: other singles, the first album released on streaming and physical formats (CD & vinyl) in 2025 as well as the EP in 2026.
And more recently, musicians joining me on stage to bring these songs to life in a way I could only imagine before.

This date carries another layer too.
That same year, I was promoting at Alcatraz Festival.
And since my name is Laurent, August 10th happens to be Saint-Laurent’s day in the calendar.
So this date has always felt symbolic, on more than one level.

« We Are Earthlings » was later re-recorded and remixed for the album. The song that started it all, evolving right alongside the project.

It’s with a lot of emotion that I’m writing this.
Already 2 years! ☺️

As the creator and the one who started Laucean, I want to say thank you genuinely to every fan and every person who’s supported this, through the moments of pride and the moments of doubt.

Right now, we’re building the live side of things with Maxime on bass and a drummer who’ll be joining us soon, in September. Our first confirmed show is November 17th, 2026, in Belgium.

What a road it’s been. Thank you for all of it.
Can’t wait to share what’s next. More shows and new songs on the way. 🖤
