HIVING IN HECTOLITRE

We invite you to join an afternoon session in Hectolitre’s garden on Monday the 25th at 18:00h
Rue de l’Hectolitre 3, 1000 Bruxelles

This highly participatory event is inspired by the potential of diverse human and non-human members of natureculture environments. The open and enclosed spaces of the Hectolitre centre are organized through several interactive and multimedia stations in which visitors are invited to let go of their everyday activities and immerse themselves in intuitive, spontaneous, and carefree acts of imagination, collaboration, and cohabitation.
As a way of resisting socially and politically organized relationships, let us dive into the leisure and pleasure of unintentionality and non-productive behavior. Let us simply be, hiving in Hecto!

The event is created and organized by Ana Pinter, stage director, educator and researcher, a member of Tri groša/Threepenny collective based in Belgrade, Serbia, with the immeasurable support by Hecto community and Culture Moves Europe.

Please bring a dish, some drinks, a friend and a neighbour. The event is children friendly

Welcome to an exploration into memories and trash – the needs to forget and to preserve. A spectacle of found objects, dia slides, video clips and recordings that I have collected, but don’t have a recollection of. A trip to other times and spaces, from Morocco 1976 to unknown fragments of Brussels to my living room in Helsinki 2013. Celebrating Hectolitre, the peculiar ex swingers’ club, decorated with layers of scrapped materials and echoes of past events and parties. Please join to create new memories to throw away. ;)

Reform Torta
by Adrijana Gvozdenović

21 March — 18:00h-22:00h
Screening at Hectolitre
Rue de l’Hectolitre 3, 1000 Bruxelles
Followed by birthday cake.

During her residency at Hectolitre, Adrijana will share a new approach to portfolio documentation—as intimate, embodied, and dialogical process. When one is not rooted in a single place, artworks and their contexts dissolve quickly—the labor of translating across languages, countries, and art systems becomes exhausting.

Reform Torta takes the form of a recipe video, to produce a space where personal memory, professional motivation, and creative labor converge.

After the screening, we will cut a birthday cake and hang out. 🎂

Adrijana Gvozdenović

Adrijana Gvozdenović (b. Titograd, 1986) is an artist-researcher and cultural worker. She develops rational, often collaborative approaches to question fixed notions of identity, authorship, and the role of the artist within institutional frameworks.
From 2017 to 2020, she was engaged in research at a.pass (Brussels) and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (Antwerp), where she developed Archiving Artistic Anxieties—a project exploring artists’ motivations and their resistance to (self-)imposed structures.
Through her hybrid formats, performances, and texts, she repositions art as a space for collective inquiry, self-education, and imaginative practices of mutual support and responsibility.
She is in Hectolitre with artist Vijai Patchineelam, her partner and collaborator, returning to Brussels to make cakes, reconnect with friends, and celebrate love and life.

101 Liters Alchemy

by Melanie Ganino, Chris-Armel Iradukunda, Stef Assandri, Gregor Petrikovič, Maria Stuut & Jere, Asli Hatipoglu, Borderdisorder + Asli Hatipoglu & Tehani Amarasuriya cooking

The doors are open. The threshold is humming. You are invited to cross into Reactor — a space where distortion, ritual, and digital/analog alchemy coexist in a fragile dance. We toast collectively, chaotically to collaboration and transformation. To lichen mutants and AI extensions, to the poetry of borders, to the infinite loop of suffering turning into wellbeing. A ritual begins somewhere between one and zero, between autumn and static. Cheers to the distorted voices of more-than-human intelligence rippling through the house, unsettling walls. Reactor is where digital minds read poetry in physical air. Where silence interrupts noise for the benefit of new speech. Cheers to everything that is still mutating.

by Melanie Ganino, Chris-Armel Iradukunda, Javi Fernández, Gregor Petrikovič, Maria Stuut & Jere

Open door, shower, marble, play. The machine started dreaming. It asked the empty space what it needed: an echo answered—‘100 litres of semifictional sand, to fill up the pool.’ We became allies: we the tiles and polaroids, we the voices and asteroids, AI archivists, semi-fictional characters, we the echo can encode the surrounding ruins. I close my eyes and imagine this room full of other-than-human companions—whoever crosses the boundary of our humanity playfully hugs non-humans next to us.
