Offering dance content is not enough.
Context, history and responsibility matter 📣

For years,  MDF- The label has worked to support inclusive, antiracist and contextualised practices within Afro-Caribbean dance scenes in Europe, insisting on one thing:

Today, while MDF is in a phase of restructuring, we want to invite communities, promoters and cultural actors to make space in your agendas for the new program developed by our founder, Massinda Zinga:
BEYOND THE MOVES.

A research-based and embodied program designed to create space for what is often missing in Dancehall dance events:
historical grounding, cultural awareness, critical reflection and responsibility.

Beyond The Moves is not here to replace Jamaican knowledge. It exists to support more conscious ways of hosting, programming and approaching these cultures in Europe.

ℹ️If you are a promoter, festival, institution or collective, this is an invitation to ask yourself:

What kind of spaces are you creating?

BECAUSE DEPTH IS NOT A LUXURY.
IT’S A RESPONSIBILITY.

🔥 MDF-the label proudly supports the Dancehall Queen Bootcamp Jamaica 2025🔥

An by women for women event ✨

Because the heart of the culture beats in Jamaica, where generations of women have turned pain, marginalization, and resilience into powerful artistry: Dancehall Queen

This is not just a camp.
It’s a space of reclamation and a celebration of Black womanhood in all its strength, creativity, and complexity.

👉🏾 As a platform committed to decolonizing Black dance spaces, we encourage anyone coming from any western country to join with respect, awareness, and humility.

This means:
- Staying reflective about your presence, your behavior, and how you embrace this part of the culture.
- Understanding the power dynamics at play when Black cultures are consumed abroad.
- Contributing to those most invisibilized in our global dance communities — the very women who shaped and carried this legacy.
- Uplifting local voices and labor, rather than centering your own experience.
- Choosing to learn before performing and give before taking.

✨ The Dancehall Queen Bootcamp is a powerful opportunity to connect with the roots, support the frontline women of the culture, and engage in true exchange — guided by care, accountability, and shared purpose.

If you’re ready to show up differently — not just to dance, but to stand for something — this is your moment.
