🌻Medieval textiles infodump 🌼

Last Monday, I had the pleasure of giving a lecture on medieval textile production and fashion — exploring fabrics, craftsmanship, status, trade, and the many ways clothing in the Middle Ages was far more than simply practical.

This reel contains a few fragments from the evening ✨

Thank you to everyone who attended, shared thoughts, asked questions, and joined me in diving into the world of wool, linen, silk, and historical dress culture.
It remains fascinating how textiles can tell us not only what people wore, but also how they lived, worked, and wished to present themselves to the world.

💚Yesterday evening 💃

A project I’ve been working on for months — or rather, years — came to a wonderful conclusion yesterday. In my lecture, Van Wol tot Weefsel, I spoke about the flourishing textile history of Herentals and the fashion of that era. The evening ended with a fashion show featuring 17 models, showcasing outfits from different decades and regions of the Late Middle Ages. It was truly a wonderful experience!

Re-enactment is such a wonderful hobby… you get reeled in with amazing atmosphere and beautiful outfits, but nobody mentions the rabbit hole! 🐇
