Belgian visual artist creating abstract paintings that explore presence, perception, and the traces that shape our experience of the world.

Based near Antwerp, Belgium.

[www.elsdevrieze.com](http://www.elsdevrieze.com) If you can think of it, I can draw it! I’m a woman on a mission. Through drawings, artwork and illustrations I translate your imagination to a piece of paper, canvas or into a digital illustration. From small drawings that brighten your text to full-colour-two-page-spreads,
from sketches for a birth announcement to an artistic invitation to a 100th birthday party. From a line drawing to a realistic portrait. Tailormade at an honest price. With room for uplifting feedback to create the most wonderful illustration. All I need is your trust, your story and your dream. If you can share it, I can draw it!

A Paper a Day Kunstwerkt — Day 16

Taking yesterday’s sketch a step further.

Still working with the two arms, but moving further away from their realistic shapes.

This time letting the contrast define the forms rather than the outlines.

Slowly getting closer to abstraction.

A Paper a Day Kunstwerkt — Day 15

Back to an earlier close-up again, this time focusing on the two arms.

I’m trying to move away from the realistic shapes and focus more on the lines and forms that interest me.

But while drawing, I started thinking about taking this in a slightly different direction.

What if I stop focusing on the shapes themselves and start looking at light and darkness instead?

I think that’s what I’ll explore tomorrow.

A Paper a Day Kunstwerkt — Day 14

Taking yesterday’s sketch a little further.

Still exploring that same shape, but pushing it further away from the original foot. Looking at the curves, the shadows and how the different forms connect.

It’s slowly becoming less about what I’m drawing and more about the shapes themselves.

Curious to see where this will lead.

A Paper a Day Kunstwerkt — Day 13

Going back to one of the earlier close-ups today.

There was something about the shape of a foot that caught my attention, so I decided to explore it a little further.

At this point, I’m no longer trying to draw what I see exactly. I’m starting to play with the shapes that interest me.

Slowly moving further away from the original image.

A Paper a Day Kunstwerkt — Day 12

Taking it one step further today.

Yesterday I looked at the negative space around the figures. Today I removed even more and kept only the spaces between the two bodies.

I’m not entirely convinced by this one. 😅

But that’s part of the experiment too. Not every step has to work to teach me something.

Tomorrow, another step.

Yes, it’s me again. Asking for your vote. 😇

And I’m going to be completely shameless about it.

I will be reposting this until voting closes on December 7th. 😂

Because if there’s even a chance of getting my painting exhibited in a museum in Brussels, I’m taking it.

So if you haven’t voted yet and you’d like to help me tick a pretty big one off my artist-goals list: please vote. ❤️

Already voted? Thank you. Seriously.
And I apologise in advance for the fact that you’re definitely going to see this again. 😏
