I’m working on a new dinnerware set!
I’ve been throwing a few different shapes, but for now I’m mostly focusing on the two things that will really define this set: the clay and the glazes.
The clay I’m using is K3005 from Sibelco, a beautiful warm brown clay. I find it surprisingly difficult to find a brown clay that is actually brown — so many lean towards red, or are so dark that they almost look black. This one, however, is exactly the kind of brown I was looking for.
The inspiration for this set comes from the floral wallpaper in my dining room (last photo). At first, I imagined a darker clay combined with pink glazes, so I tested 7 different pinks to see what would happen.
I definitely don’t want every piece to be the same color. I’m thinking of using 2 or 3 different pinks throughout the set. But now that I’ve seen the first tests… finding three pinks that actually look good together might be harder than I thought. Maybe I need to bring another color into the mix?
My current favourites are Snap Dragon by Amaco and Bougainvillea by Spectrum, but I’m not sure they work together.
Luckily, I still have 6 little bowls in the making, so there’s room for a few more colour experiments!Â
So I need your help:

• Small cup — Bougainvillea, Spectrum
• Large cup — Shallot, Spectrum
• Glass — Gloss Pink, Mayco
• Plate — Raspberry Mist, Mayco
• Small bowl — Snap Dragon, Amaco
• Medium bowl — Gloss Coral, Mayco
• Large bowl — Morganit, Botz
