We're excited to introduce the next candidate for the International ECHO Jehan Crinon Organ Competition, Pierre Ouilhon from France!

Pierre Ouilhon began studying the organ at the Pau Conservatory at the age of four and a half. Early on, he developed a strong interest in the French symphonic repertoire and in improvisation. He is also drawn to organ building, seeking a concrete understanding of the instrument—from its mechanics to its wide range of timbres.

In 2018, he was appointed principal organist of the two Cavaillé-Coll organs of Oloron-Sainte-Marie, where he is actively involved in promoting and showcasing this heritage through projects, liturgical accompaniment, and the local musical life. In 2019, he obtained the Diplôme d’études musicales with highest honors.

In 2021, he entered the Strasbourg Conservatory in the class of Johann Vexo. The
following year, he began a Bachelor’s program at the Haute École des Arts du Rhin, which he completed in June 2025. Admitted in September 2025 to the Master’s program in “Composition and Musical Performance,” he also studies improvisation with Daniel Maurer and early organ with Benjamin Steens.

His work aims to connect performance, stylistic awareness, and knowledge of the instrument, with a focus on musical coherence and transmission.

He is one of the twelve young organists who will compete from 8-11 July in Leuven.
