This watercolour is by Raphael de Buck (1902 – 1986). It resembles the style of 19th-century impressionists such as Degas and Renoir. The painting consists mainly of a cool colour palette of blues, greys, and yellows. A fine lady is seated at a table with a glass of wine or another beverage in the centre. Her gaze is directed towards something outside of the frame. As she takes up most of the painting, the rest of the space is taken by vague silhouettes of three other women in the background. The artist used powerful brushstrokes, and clear borders do not distinguish the outline of the figures, but more with the way the paint is set and the brushstroke's directions, and the use of colour by the de Buck. He signed this work in the bottom right corner with R. De Buck, and it is framed as well.
