✨ WHO'S PART OF OUR COMMUNITY ART WALL ✨

MEET ADDA!

Adda calls herself a visceral minimalist, and that's exactly what her photography does. She works with the architecture of the human form and goes where most cameras look away: the darker corners of being a person.
For her, art is a way to give physical shape to feelings that don't have words.

The series on our wall is called Erosion, and it's about chronic loneliness and the way that loneliness slowly wears a person down: their body, their mind, their sense of who they are.

This is also the first time Adda's work steps off the screen and onto a wall. Choosing the right printer, paper and finish became its own small adventure with a lot of voices chiming in, and that collective figuring-out is part of what makes the moment special.

✨ WHO'S PART OF OUR COMMUNITY ART WALL ✨

MEET THOMAS DIELMAN!

Through his paintings, Thomas wants to start a conversation with the viewer. He's increasingly drawn to the social side of art, to the idea that a canvas can build a real relationship with the world around it.

His work usually surprises us with scenes riddled by the things that aren't being said out loud. Symbolism, inherited roles, social constructs, the warmth and the unease.

He wants to make our world a better place by showing just how beautiful it already is. And to remind us that this beauty isn't a given, that it has to be defended against everything that threatens it, from neoliberalism to fascism.

📍 Come check out his creation at BLUT! Art Gallery, Jan Persijnstraat 1, Kortrijk.

✨Who's part of our Community Art Wall✨

MEET STIJN MOREELS!

A multidisciplinary artist from Kortrijk working across music, writing and illustration. His visual work explores metamorphic forms and strange systems where bodies, structures and spaces merge. His images feel suspended in transformation, as if something is constantly becoming something else.

Working in black and white, Stijn often begins without a fixed plan, letting his paint marker and instincts lead the way as each drawing grows organically. Always thinking outside the box, architecture, anatomy and alien environments blur into one another, creating spaces that feel unfamiliar yet strangely coherent.

📍 Come experience his work at BLUT! Art Gallery, Jan Persijnstraat 1, Kortrijk.

Open every:
Wednesday 14:00 - 20:00
Friday 14:00 - 21:00

From 19 to 21 June, Ellemie, currently part of our Community Art Wall, takes over one of the abandoned buildings in the street for her solo exhibition.

Born deaf, she found in sculpting a language that finally belongs to her. Working with clay, papier-mâché and iron, she shapes abstract, expressive sculptures that give a voice to the experience of Deaf and hard-of-hearing people.

Her raw "clay skin" breaks the taboo around sound. Her "imperfect" portraits are a poetic narrative where vulnerability and strength sit side by side.

And the best part? Ellemie will be in the gallery all three days, ready to meet visitors and walk you through her work.

Free entry, always.

📍 Jan Persijnstraat 7, Kortrijk

Ellemie will be present:

✨ WHO'S PART OF OUR COMMUNITY ART WALL ✨

MEET ELLEMIE!

Born deaf, Ellemie found in sculpting a language that finally belongs to her. She works with clay, papier-mâché and iron to shape abstract, expressive sculptures that translate the world of Deaf and hard-of-hearing people into a visual vocabulary all her own.

Her raw "clay skin" breaks the taboo around sound and touches the long history of sign language. The "imperfect" portraits she sculpts form a personal, poetic narrative where vulnerability and strength sit side by side.

🗓️ And SAVE THE DATE: from 19 to 21 June, Ellemie returns to BLUT! for her solo exhibition. The artist herself will be present to meet you and walk you through her practice.

📍 Come check out her creation at BLUT! Art Gallery, Jan Persijnstraat 1, Kortrijk.

Open every:

✨ WHO'S PART OF OUR COMMUNITY ART WALL ✨

MEET (J)ARTOTHEEK!

A whole corner of our Community Art Wall is taken over by friends from (J)Artotheek, an art lending library by Jeugdhuis Jakkedoe, that gives artists under 30 their first public stage.

Their model is simple and a little radical: you can walk into (J)Artotheek, pick a piece you love, and take it home. Rent it, live with it, give it back. Artists get visibility and a small income, renters get original art on their wall without needing a gallery wallet, and the whole thing keeps moving.

For Welcome to the Neighborhood 4, they're showing 9 of their artists on our wall. Nine very different voices, all under 30, all worth meeting.

📍 Come check out their work at BLUT! Art Gallery, Jan Persijnstraat 1, Kortrijk.

Open every:
Wednesday 14:00 - 20:00
Friday 14:00 - 21:00
Sunday 14:00 - 20:00

✨ WHO'S PART OF OUR COMMUNITY ART WALL ✨

MEET NELE VANHEEL!

Transdisciplinary artist and director working across photography, film and performance. Her practice begins in reflection, but always moves toward connection: each project grows from a ton of research and lived experience, with the aim to create space for dialogue and a level of recognition for the unknowing bystander.

Due to a background in orthopedagogy, she is sensitive to emotional development, social structures and the often unseen ways people relate to one another. Her work explores how meaning can shift through time, with some pieces carrying a temporary or even ritual dimension before returning to where they once began.

Nele approaches an idea with clear intention, aiming to create moments of curiosity and wonder. She carefully considers how each vision can be translated so it remains approachable without losing depth.

The film showcased on our Community Art Wall, The Veil of Maya, is a poetic autobiographical short that invites viewers to slow down, feel deeply and reconnect with their authentic self. Created for the Congress on the Theory of Positive Disintegration, it mirrors the process of inner chaos and disintegration as a pathway toward growth, clarity and deeper meaning.
