“Shadows” by

Emanuele Tozzoli, painter and musician, discovered creative art in childhood through his father – painter and sculptor. He pursued his creative endeavours in the music field by studying and composing music. Then he worked as a decorator and restorer of wall paintings. He now uses painting as his expressive channel- instinctive and visceral.

He is represented by several galeries around the globe, carving himself a name in the international art scene through the participation to solo shows, group exhibitions, and art fairs- which were all positive experiences and created new opportunities. Engaged artist, he also recently decided to donate the proceeds from the sale of his paintings available at the 19Karen Gallery in Mermaid beach, Australia, to charity following the natural disasters faced by the country early 2020.

In years to come, people will ask what you did during the great lockdown – and what will you say?

For .grolls_art the answer is painting! Living proof that creativity benefits from isolation, Julie Grolls always had a penchant for graphic art, design and painting which she developed during the recent lockdown measures in Brussels.

Originally from Normandy, France, born in 1990, Julie grew up around her brothers and sisters in a family where art is practiced in all its forms. In 2018, she moved to Brussels and discovered a city that suits her artistic appetite. But with medical school, she never had much time to devote to her passion. But the recent, tricky circumstances came as a new starting point. And how many times has she (and you?) thought, ‘I’d love to paint – if only I had the time’? Now that time is there and Julie took advantage of it to our greatest pleasure!

Her art brings harmony and luminosity. The artist creates worlds of colour and contemplation by working on textures through large format paintings. It is open to interpretation, and that is one of the beautiful things about it. She likes to give viewers the freedom to explore the artwork and assign their own meaning to the piece. Open to new opportunities, she is looking forward to the after-lockdown to organise her first exhibition and further develop her talent.

Happy World Book Day!

Today we also celebrate Art Books and their editors. Art books are niche products: hardly anyone reads them, you can’t make profit with them, and yet more and more galleries produce books. This links back to the 1960s and 1970s when a new generation of artists established the making of self-published books, pamphlets and posters as an artistic practice in its own- in many cases independently of galleries and museums.

My favorite book is older than that as Kandinsky published “Point and Line to Plane” in 1926. It summarises the teaching he gave at the Bauhaus, in his so-called “free painting” class. His concern: to set out the internal rules, to identify the pictorial grammar that givers the act of painting. For him, creation does not follow random criteria but appears as a free formal game, within strict rules.

Today, the art market loves books, and you? What is yo ur favorite art book?

Maison Club is a concept born three years ago, imagined by an artist from Montpellier now exiled under the sun of Guadeloupe.

“I was in music and three years ago I wanted to launch my own clothing brand; that’s when I started painting on t-shirts and the Maison Club brand with its round woman logo was born. My mother paints a lot and that encouraged me to get started. When I saw that it was taking off with my Instagram audience, I persevered. You shouldn’t be afraid to invest. It pays off quickly. By canvassing, I was able to present Maison Club at an exhibition in Montpellier in the Concept Store Grands Ensemble and then an exhibition in the restaurant Café des Arts in Pointe à Pitre where I sold about fifteen paintings, which gave me a boost for the future. There are fewer outlets for art in Guadeloupe than in mainland France but I was selected to participate in the Pool Art Fair Guadeloupe, and for the future I want to set up distance selling in order to export my work outside the island”.

New Article online. July 2019 agenda of the exhibitions to see around you this month.

Including a « museum special » exhibition for the BOZAR Brussels IncarNations exhibition who opens today (until the 6th of October). It gathers together one of the largest African collection from classical works to contemporary works, including those of the diaspora. It reflects the diversity of the African artistic heritage, from an Afrocentric point of view and including the itineraries of slaves, colonialism and independence movements.

Outsmartist. Unleash your art potential

THE FOUNDER: KAYLE GIROUD

Born in 1993 in Lausanne, Switzerland, Kayle began showing a strong artistic interest at a very young age and progressively developed her personal skills. Determined to couple her carrier to her artistic talents, she participated to dozens of exhibitions and art fairs in Belgium, France, Italy, and Switzerland. She quickly realized the shared struggles facing art lovers and artists when accessing the art market. Outsmartist was designed to cope with these barriers to entry and unleash the art experience of all art lovers and artists.

MISSION AND VALUES

Outsmartist was founded in 2018 to help people find great Art Fairs and exhibitions around the globe. The idea is to enable art lovers and artists to unleash the full potential of every exhibition. With the belief that large groups of people are collectively smarter than even individual experts when it comes to decision making, innovating and predicting, Outsmartist provides art lovers and artists with the wisdom of the crowds to help them decide what to visit, where to exhibit, and how to access the art market.
