A huge thank you and congratulations to our incredible artists Anya Janssen Silvia B. Renato Nicolodi Klaus Verscheure and Cindy Wright , who also was the curator for this exhibition ๐Ÿ™Œ.

Skindeep put in the spotlight the idea of following our first impressions. Let the skin, the surface of the pieces, be your first glance, and then the resonances between different artists or even different layers of the work of art itself will open to you.โœจ

Cindy Wright

Cindy Wright works in painting and charcoal drawing, using carefully constructed photographs of her own making as the starting point. In her studio, she collects, arranges and lights organic materials, objects and remnants. She first constructs her compositions physically, photographs them, and digitally refines the image before slowly translating it into paint or charcoal. Photography is only one step in a longer process of observation, association and imagination.

The final work is not a reproduction of an existing reality, but a constructed image in which perception, memory, art history and contemporary strategies of image-making converge.
For Wright, painting is not only a way of creating images but also a mode of thinking. During the act of painting, the photographic point of departure is reconsidered. Throughout the painting process, pictorial decisions continue to evolve, refining the way the image operates.
