A rare moment of authenticity! 🙏 Thanks everyone for joining us on Tuesday. It was a powerful evening, one that offered us a glimpse into the stories of a few people, in a yet common narrative of exode and discontent. There’s hope, in the one that unites us through art, to continue sharing our stories and listening.🌱

–See you soon for our next screening at Funke!

𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗿 '𝗕𝗲𝗶𝗿𝘂𝘁: 𝗘𝘆𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗺'

It’s October 2019, and four progressive women are documenting the uprising in Beirut. They are journalist Hanine, Iraqi camerawoman Lujain, and Noel and Michelle, two artist sisters whose often-ironic songs have made them a voice for their generation. This non-chronological account of a tumultuous period in recent Lebanese history loops back and forth between uprising and lockdown, while the protagonists and the movie's director, Mai Masri, express their opinions about current events, place them into historical perspective, but also offer glimpses into their personal lives.
