Based in Brussels, the International Jewish Community (IJC) is the only liberal, English-speaking Jewish community in Belgium.

The IJC offers the full spectrum of Jewish life cycle activities. Each Saturday, the Hebrew School meets, ranging from preschoolers to Bat and Bar Mitzvah candidates. Shabbat services are scheduled twice a month. Regular Shabbat dinners are held and all the major Jewish holidays are celebrated. In addition, the High Holy Days, Hanukkah and Purim parties and the Passover Seders attract large crowds

. The IJC also hosts many Jewish cultural events, talks, concerts and other outings. Speakers have ranged from the head of the Belgian Jewish Community to the owner of Israel’s most famous winery. The community has taken trips together, including to visit the Netherlands and Slovakia. A Rosh Chodesh woman’s group meets and young professionals gather regularly for Jewish nightlife outings. The World Union of Progressive Judaism has officially recognized the IJC. The Community is a Belgian ASBL/VZW non-profit organization.

IJC Goes Dutch!

Als onderdeel van onze uitgebreide visie en outreach, organiseert IJC een aantal Shabbat Diensten waarin de voertaal Nederlands zal zijn.
Nederlandstaligen - op welk niveau dan ook - zijn uitgenodigd om mee te doen aan Erev Shabbat Services & Potluck Dinner op vrijdag 19 januari om 19.00 uur in de synagoge. We zullen een eenvoudige siddur gebruiken voor de dienst in Hebreeuwse transliteratie Nederlands.
We raden leden aan om hun Nederlandstalige vrienden uit te nodigen om met ons mee te doen aan deze speciale Shabbat dienst!
