Meet Le Comptable. The accountant.

Switches on his head. A gauge on his chest, from 0 to 10.
And across his skull, in neat capitals: CASH FLOW M$.

He has everything under control. He thinks.

That is what Stéphane Halleux does so well. He does not build machines, he builds people we all recognise, and screws a few switches onto them.

The red leather, the dial on his chest, the little suitcase he never puts down. All of it made by hand.

He is standing here with us in the gallery.
Louise Gallery, Rue Comte d’Ursel 24, Durbuy.

And the question that matters: where is your needle today? 0 to 10.

Have you seen this one yet?

Turn it around and the wings unfold.
A work by Stéphane Halleux, wrapped all the way around the mug.

It has been in our shop for a while. Not everyone knows the shop is there.

What else you will find: posters, magnets, notebooks and more small things to take home.

Meconium Museum, Rue Comte d’Ursel 24, Durbuy.
Only available here.

Which one would you take home?

There is a museum. And there is a shop.

Black cover, elastic band, cream paper.
The notebook from the Meconium Museum shop.

For your first sentence. Your next idea. Or simply because it is beautiful.

We put out a small stack at a time. That stack usually disappears fast.

And there is more: posters, magnets, mugs, small things to take home.

Meconium Museum, Rue Comte d’Ursel 24, Durbuy.
Come in, look around, take something with you.

🎬 And… action!

Today the cameras of C’est du Belge (RTBF) were rolling in Stéphane Halleux’s studio and museum. Boom mic, gimbal, spotlights, and an espresso on the Chesterfield in between takes.

The crew filmed the sculptures, the creative process, and the story behind the characters that have travelled from Brussels all the way to Hollywood.

📺 Friday 11 September, 20:25 on La Une (RTBF). The segment on Stéphane runs about 8 minutes, the rest of the show features other Belgium items.

Set a reminder, or simply come see the work in person at the gallery.

Crumple zone. The part built to break, so you don’t.

Look at him. Layer over layer over layer, sunglasses on, buttons like small watching eyes. Peter Kohl painted a creature wrapped entirely in its own protection.

At first glance it reads like a child’s drawing. Stand in front of it for thirty seconds and it stops being funny.

Which layer are you still wearing? Tell us below. DM for availability.

Someone told him he will become a butterfly. Look at his face. He’s not convinced.

That in-between moment, not what you were, not yet what you’ll be, is exactly what Peter Kohl paints. He even writes it on the canvas: “soon you will be a butterfly “. Funny at first. Then it stays with you.

Send this to someone who’s mid-transformation right now. 🦋

Look how carefully he holds it. As if he never wants to let go.

Somewhere on the canvas Peter Kohl writes: “playing with the ram”. That is how he works. Short poetic lines between his creatures, making you smile at first — and then somehow touching you. Painter, poet and philosopher in one.

Save this post and come back to it in a week. That’s when you’ll notice how many words and scribbles you missed the first time.

And tell us: who would you hold like this?

Louise Gallery, Durbuy. Free entry.

Written on the canvas: “soon you will be butterfly.”

So we hang it dead straight. Millimeter by millimeter, spirit level and all. A Peter Kohl rebel deserves to hang perfectly level.

Kohl paints out loud. Run your eyes across the canvas and you find little words, numbers, a stray thought leaking over the surface. Funny at first. Then it lands.

New this week at the gallery. Free to walk in, no barrier.

Send this to someone who’s still becoming a butterfly too.

A new name. New work. Opening the first weekend of October at Louise Gallery.

Who is it? That stays with us a little longer. What we can tell you: when the box opened, the table went quiet.

Follow us. The reveal happens here first, and this is not something you want to hear second-hand.
