A few memories from trips to Düsseldorf in Germany during the 2010's chiefly for the Rheinkirmes (largest fair on the Rhine). A stayed at a lovely hotel just a short walk from the famous Rheineturn (Rhine Tower).

Sorry it's been a while since my last post. Earlier today I was in the Farnham area and I happened to notice this first on Google Maps. Farnham Cricket Club have named their entrance in memory of the great England Test Cricket great Graham Thorpe who was a local man and started his cricket journey here before moving onto greater things spent his entire county cricket career at Surrey CC at the famous Oval cricket ground in South London. I'm sure Thorpey would have be very honoured to see this road named after him.

Taken earlier today, the metropolis of London seen from 80 metres above Blackheath's Easter Funfair on the Skyfall Gyrodrop Tower.

At 219 metres, the Crystal Palace TV transmitter is one of London's tallest landmarks which can be seeing from various locations around the city from Epsom Downs, Alexandra Palace to the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge. It has been amusingly mistaken for, of all things, the Eiffel Tower!!

My first ever self-built fairground model "Kaleidoscope" turns 20 years old this year. A couple of photos from the manufacturing process back in 2006 and a photo of it taken on exhibition last year.

So I was on my way to Leeds United Football Club for the last model exhibition supporting the Valentine's Fair in February 2019. This happened while on the M25 approaching Junction 13 for Staines! The engine of the double-decker exploded, the vehicle was subsequently destroyed by the fire.

Since a youngster I've always had an interest with tall structures, when travelling around I find them very handy to help you know your bearings. The Emley Moor TV tower in West Yorkshire is no exception which stands out for many miles and is the tallest free standing structure in Britain. It was 336m high when this photo was taken (2016) since has been reduced to 319m after recent remodelling for digital TV.

It was four years ago in February when Storm Eunice caused havoc in the South of England. Several half-term events were postponed including a brand new Valentines Fair in Bordon which sadly hasn't been repeated since 2024 due to the loss of the venue.

Today. the towering Xentox model ride was fully built-up & tested. Ready to go for its first appearance at the Annual Modellers Exhibition at The Grange Community and Leisure Centre in Midhurst next Sunday 8th February.
