History of the Prague House,
the seat of the Delegation of Prague to the EU

The Prague House was built in the period of 1897–1899 (as most houses in this street) by the prominent Belgian architects M. Bosmans and Henry Van de Veldem, it was in fact their first joint project for the famous Belgian dentist family of Van Stratum. Dentistry had been passed down from one generation to another in this

family since 1840 and private surgery was always favoured by an elite clientele. The last generation of dentists provided their services to, among others, prominent industrialists (for example the Solvay family), members of the Royal family and also some highly placed EU officials. The Prague House building is located in the vicinity of the European institutions, between the Marie-Louise and Ambiorix squares. On 1 July, the Czech and Slovak national delegations to the European Committee of the Regions held a joint meeting at the Prague House in Brussels. In addition to the customary discussion of the plenary session agenda, the programme included a debate on the NRRP Regulation, attended by a guest speaker, David Sventek, rapporteur of the European Economic and Social Committee. The joint meeting with our Slovak colleagues has become an annual tradition; however, there were so many topics for discussion that we will most likely reconvene in this format again in the very near future.

An inspiring evening at the Prague House! ✨

On 23 June, we had the pleasure of welcoming Markéta Pekarová Adamová for an engaging discussion on women in politics. Together, we explored personal experiences, the challenges women face in public life, and the ways to overcome them through resilience, collaboration, and leadership.

A heartfelt thank you to our moderator Eva Hrnčířová for guiding such an open and thought-provoking conversation, and to the Czech Women's Network—Lucie Šestáková, Irena Moozová, Klára Častová, and Pavla Papírníková—for initiating and organizing this inspiring event.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to a lively exchange of ideas, which continued over refreshments after the discussion.

The ECON commission of the European Committee of the Regions has adopted its opinion on the Cybersecurity Review and the Digital Networks Act (DNA).

Prepared by rapporteur Zdeněk Hřib, the opinion highlights that Europe's digital future depends not only on stronger rules, but on governance that is practical, proportionate, and works for local and regional authorities.
