The workshop: This workshop explores the act of interpretation through the practice of coffee cup reading. Moving between facts and imagination the session reflects on how we search for meaning, an answer in the unknown. We will use coffee cup reading as a starting point to create our short texts. The shapes and marks left by the coffee become a way to explore imagination, uncertainty, and the unknown, creating collective stories.
The performance: As If Something Is About to Happen is a work-in-progress performance that intertwines a personal memory with the collective memory of Beirut. Through storytelling and the ritual of coffee cup reading, the piece explores how people try to understand their lives while living in uncertainty. It invites the audience into a shared moment of waiting, a familiar feeling that something might happen, even if we don’t know what it is.
