This Thursday, Il Gardellino takes the stage for the final round of the MA Competition Brugge (Harpsichord) at Concertgebouw Brugge!

We’re honored to accompany an incredible final round of young talent as they perform harpsichord concertos by J. Haydn and J.S. Bach. An evening celebrating the next generation, deep listening, and the living practice of early music.

A new review by Dr. Matthias Lange on 𝑪𝒉𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒑𝒉 𝑮𝒓𝒂𝒖𝒑𝒏𝒆𝒓: 𝑺𝒊𝒏𝒇𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒂𝒔, recorded by 𝑰𝒍 𝑮𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒐 with Florian Heyerick, is now online on klassik.com.

The review describes the album as “ein erhellender Einblick in Christoph Graupners orchestrales Werk” and Graupner’s instrumental music as “ein faszinierendes Experimentierfeld.”

On 26 June at 18:00, you can listen to the live recording of 𝑰𝒍 𝑮𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒐’𝒔 concert at the 𝑫𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑬𝒂𝒓𝒍𝒚 𝑴𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒄 / 𝑻𝒂𝒈𝒆 𝑨𝒍𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑴𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒌 𝑹𝒆𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒃𝒖𝒓𝒈.
The broadcast features 𝑷𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑶𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒐, a reconstructed Passion work by 𝑱𝒐𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒏 𝑺𝒆𝒃𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑩𝒂𝒄𝒉, completed by 𝑨𝒍𝒆𝒙𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝑮𝒓𝒚𝒄𝒉𝒕𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒌.
Composed for Good Friday 1725, the work has survived only in fragments through other Bach compositions, while Picander’s text has been preserved. Grychtolik brings these traces together into a stage-ready oratorio.

This weekend, 𝑰𝒍 𝑮𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒐 closes its season at 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒓𝒕𝒈𝒆𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒘 𝑨𝒎𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒅𝒂𝒎 🌷, in a concert that also marks 30 years of 𝑩𝒂𝒓𝒐𝒌 𝑽𝒐𝒄𝒂𝒂𝒍.

Writing about Graupner’s unusual harmonic world, 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗦𝗲𝗼𝘄 singles out 𝗝𝗼𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗮 𝗛𝘂𝘀𝘇𝗰𝘇𝗮’s playing and describes 𝗜𝗹 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗼 as “a charming backdrop”.

On Sunday 14 June, 𝑰𝒍 𝑮𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒐 will close the season with a one-off concert at 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒓𝒕𝒈𝒆𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒘 𝑨𝒎𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒅𝒂𝒎, together with countertenor 𝑨𝒍𝒆𝒙𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 and soprano 𝑬𝒎𝒐̈𝒌𝒆 𝑩𝒂𝒓𝒂́𝒕𝒉.
The programme brings together Pergolesi’s 𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒃𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓 and three works by Vivaldi: 𝑺𝒊𝒏𝒇𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒂 𝒂𝒍 𝑺𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒐 𝑺𝒆𝒑𝒐𝒍𝒄𝒓𝒐, 𝑵𝒊𝒔𝒊 𝑫𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒖𝒔 and 𝑵𝒖𝒍𝒍𝒂 𝒊𝒏 𝑴𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒐.
The concert also marks the 30th anniversary of Fred Luiten Concertorganisatie, the independent concert organiser behind the 𝑩𝒂𝒓𝒐𝒌 𝑽𝒐𝒄𝒂𝒂𝒍 series. Thirty years ago, the series began with a recital by countertenor 𝑴𝒊𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒆𝒍 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 in the Kleine Zaal of 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒓𝒕𝒈𝒆𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒘. In that same first season, Pergolesi’s 𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒃𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓 was also part of the programme. Now, three decades later, the music returns in a new constellation, with 𝑨𝒍𝒆𝒙𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆, 𝑴𝒊𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒆𝒍 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆’s son, and 𝑬𝒎𝒐̈𝒌𝒆 𝑩𝒂𝒓𝒂́𝒕𝒉.

𝑱𝑼𝑷𝑰 has just reached its 𝟏𝟎𝟎𝐭𝐡 performance.

A special moment for this children’s opera by 𝑫𝑬𝑺𝑪𝑯𝑶𝑵𝑬𝑪𝑶𝑴𝑷𝑨𝑵𝑰𝑬 & 𝑰𝒍 𝑮𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒐, created and directed by 𝑻𝒐𝒎 𝑮𝒐𝒐𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒔 for children aged 3+.

Since its premiere, 𝑱𝑼𝑷𝑰 has travelled through theatres, cultural centres and schools, meeting young audiences through music, light, play and the first encounter with opera.

Thank you to 𝑻𝒐𝒎 𝑮𝒐𝒐𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒔, the artists, the production team, the venues, the schools, the families and all the children who have been part of these 100 performances.
