A face appears, then fades.
A landscape settles, then fractures.
In “Vestiges du Désordre,” captures what lingers in the moment between loss and formation.
Each work carries the memory of what came before—layers partially erased, forms refusing to disappear, matter holding onto its past.
Paintings breathe like afterimages; ceramic forms resemble excavated fragments or emerging bodies. The eye is never given certainty, only presence.
This exhibition invites slow looking—where disorder becomes a language and fragility a strength.
Now on view at Deletaille Gallery.

We are thrilled to open tomorrow new exhibition, “Vestiges du Désordre,” a journey into the fragile architectures that emerge when chaos is finally allowed to speak.
Join us on December 2nd, from 16:00 to 20:00, to discover a collection where every layer reveals what memory refuses to let disappear.
“Là où tout se défait, quelque chose commence encore.”

Forged by a life of movement and displacement, Van Mullem’s work arises from an unstable interval where forms waver, dissolve, and return. His practice—built through successive overlays, erasures, and recoveries—reveals what survives after rupture and what insists on resurfacing.
Landscapes hover between apparition and afterimage; faces emerge at the edge of recognition; ceramic forms echo both excavated relics and embryonic matter. As described in his artist dossier , each work inhabits a “zone de friction” where presence is continuously reconfigured.
Here, the remnants of chaos do not mourn collapse—they announce the slow, organic recommencement of life.
Join us for this intimate exploration of matter, memory, and metamorphosis at “Vestiges du Désordre.”

We are delighted to welcome you to the opening of new exhibition, “Vestiges du Désordre”.
Join us on December 2nd, from 16:00 to 20:00, to discover a collection where the remnants of chaos become silent architectures of rebirth.
“Dans le désordre, quelque chose achève toujours de naître.” — J. Van Mullem

Through the raw light of disruption, Van Mullem traces what survives after the rupture.
His paintings and ceramic forms reveal landscapes in suspension, faces caught between dissolution and emergence, and textures that echo both Pompeii’s petrified bodies and the fragile persistence of nature.
Here, the remnants of chaos do not mourn destruction they announce the slow, organic return of life.
Join us for this powerful dialogue between matter, memory, and metamorphosis at “Vestiges du Désordre.”

“We do not see things as they are, we see them as we are.” – Anaïs Nin

In Mon autre, explores the mirrored landscapes of the self. This 2024 diptych, acrylic on canvas, presents both profiles of the artist in a quiet confrontation of identity. Light and shadow play across the contours of introspection, revealing the delicate tension between inner perception and outer reality.

Step closer to witness this intimate dialogue at Traversée.
