C’me by Luc Vleugels. One of my proudest project and most beautiful exhibition I’ve directed 💙 C’me was presented in 2012 by Fine Art Studio my gallery at the Sablon in Brussels. Luc Vleugels, talented Belgian artist presented in this show an allegory of deep emotions of feelings and subtle and aesthetic expressions. 10 years later I remain deeply touched and honored 💙💙💙
By Barbara Vanderlinden .. The most significant project of Vleugels’ endeavour into the world of contemporary art up to this day is his C’Me exhibition in 2012 at the Brussels-based Fine Art Studio. Accompanied by an artist book, the exhibition consists of several themes interconnected by visual, formal, conceptual and intuitive associations. Among other things it explores the relationship between individuals, memory, places, sculptural forms, poetry and painting. At times it creates a total environment (images are hung at different heights, on panels, as well as on staircase side walls) with a host of black and white photographs of places and people combined with found footage taken from a range of sources and lives. The images share an overall rawness and are drawn from a wide swatch of society and culture, combining ordinary life, places and popular culture. Vleugels’ photographs in the exhibition take their inspiration from those mysterious, unnameable places and incidents that haunt his existence. The found historical photographs, music records, books, magazine clippings collected over the years introduce a very unique view of the world; the result is a playful and subjective process of seeing and introspection.
For the Belgium Luc Vleugels, who since 1985 is active as a multifaceted artist in the world of interior design, fashion and theatre, art was constantly in the background of his creative work as a designer photographer, but in 2004, contemporary art stepped to the foreground...
