Ten artists have been invited to present their work in an exceptional setting, marking the first contemporary art exhibition to take place within the historic site of Re-Rom, the former Campus Rommelaere of the University of Ghent.

Bringing together artists from Belgium, Brazil, China, broader Europe and USA. WILD WIND unfolds through works that resonate across places, materials and time, inviting us to look again at what continues to take shape.

W/LD W/ND has many layers, layers we will share with you over the coming weeks.

The title Wild Wind brings to mind the wind in Cape Town: a force that brings oxygen, creates movement and challenges perception. It clears the mind and makes space for new ways of seeing.

In many ways, W/LD W/ND began in Brazil, during my visit to São Paulo in November 2025, when curator Germano Dushá introduced me to the work of Marina Woisky and I visited her studio.

Encountering her work was a liberating experience. Her sculptures move against the grain: they are familiar yet strange, playful yet conceptually precise. They invite us to look again and to question how images, objects and cultural references acquire meaning.

I felt it was time to make this work visible into a European context.

Marina Woisky (b. 1996, Brazil) explores how images transform through reproduction, circulation and cultural transmission. Working from photographs of archaeological and historical artefacts and decorative motifs, she translates these references into tactile sculptural forms. Through processes of enlargement, distortion and re-stabilisation, her works move between image and object, recognition and estrangement.

Her practice raises questions about fabulation and possibilities.

This week, Marina arrived in Ghent, where she is currently working on three new artworks created especially for W/LD W/ND. These works will be available to acquire.

For me, W/LD W/ND begins with this kind of encounter: an intuitive shift in perception that activates conversations and collaboration.

This summer feels full.

There have been moments to slow down, like watching this beautiful sunset on holiday, but at the same time, so much is in motion behind the scenes.

Together with Sophie and Stéphanie, our team, I’ve been working on something very close to my heart: an exhibition that brings together my practice as a curator and art advisor.

At a time when the world and the art world within it is changing so rapidly, I’ve been reflecting on how we look at art, how artists exist and create in that present, and how new possibilities are beginning to take shape. These shifts invite us to remain curious, open and attentive to different perspectives.

This exhibition, WILD WIND, feels like an important next step: personal, exciting and deeply connected to the way I think about art, artists and collecting today.

We have carefully selected works by 10 artists, creating a dialogue between the artists, the artworks and the spaces they will inhabit. I’m looking forward to sharing more about the exhibition and the artists with you soon.

A new office is also opening soon, together with a new website offering a closer look at our work and how we support collectors in starting or developing a collection that feels truly their own.

I’m excited to share this new chapter with you and to move with what is possible in this changing landscape.

Venice inspires artists, architects, writers, musicians, cineasts, designers, craftsmanship, travellers, lovers, solitary souls and dreamers.

It is a city of layers: Byzantine, Gothic, Renaissance, Modern and Contemporary. A place where Tintoretto and Titian coexist with biennale pavilions, where reflections turn palazzi into abstract paintings, and where every walk becomes an exercise in looking.

Venice reminds us that art is not confined to museums. Here, it lives in the light, the water, the architecture, the stories and the silences between them. To be shared together or savoured solo, both have their beauty.

Over the last ten years, I travelled four times to Brazil and four times to South Africa. Through these journeys and through conversations with artists, colleagues and friends my understanding expanded in ways that addressed not only the mind, but also the body and the soul.

This experience gives orientation while navigating the current Venice Biennale and the reactions surrounding it. It is an edition unfolding in a destabilising time, yet also one filled with potential.

We live in a moment in which old traumas resurface, asking to be seen and healed, while new traumas continue to emerge through war, grief, tension, loss and other circumstances.

And yet there exists a power both gentle and fierce in how we choose to be present today. In how we relate to what we feel, what we know, what we cannot fully understand, and what lies beyond the comfort zone of how things used to be.

Do we dare to come closer?
To listen carefully?
To accept that words sometimes reach their limits?
What if poetry opens another door?

Venice overflows with exhibitions, highlights, and experiences to chase. I also feel the professional ambition to see as much as possible. Yet some of the most meaningful moments came from slowing down.

I spent a full hour attending a performance by Miet Warlop at the Belgian Pavilion, and another hour with Depois da Encruzilhada, initiated by Paulo Nazareth.

An hour of being fully present. A gift.

In the coming weeks, I will share curated reflections on what to see, read, watch, and listen to during this Venice art season and the Biennale.

What happens when we say ‘ssst’ in a world that is always ‘on’? What if it never ‘ssst’ in our busy and head full of a lot?

IT NEVER SSST is a musical and living sculpture that is being rebuilt every day around the physical process of supporting. For her first large-scale performance exhibition in the Belgian Pavilion Miet Warlop unites performers and the international flow of people at the biennale around a central area of tension: the pursuit of human connection in a world that is always ‘on’.

New work by artist Miet Warlop is on display in the Belgian pavilion at the Venice Biennale in May 2026.
The new performance is entitled ‘It never SSST’ and is realized with the support of KANAL-Centre Pompidou, Morpho Antwerp through the curator Caroline Dumalin and with the support of the Flemish Government. It will be shown in KANAL in 2027.

The title refers to the turbulent time in which they keep moving forward, doing anything to avoid a standstill. Warlop’s work explores the urgency of human connection in an increasingly disorienting world, transforming the Belgian Pavilion into a space of energy, tension, and shared emotional experience.

What happens when you take time to stay, to be in silence, to stand still?

Through a very narrow street in Venice, I arrived today at the first exhibition in Venice where monumental and massive artworks by challenge expectations. They don’t behave to please you but to interrupt and provoke.
