I just discovered The Alice & Louis Koch Collection of finger rings in Zurich.
One jewellery form, yet over 2500 variations on display!
Louis Koch, a celebrated jeweller, began collecting rings spanning thousands of years, and by 1909 he and his wife Alice had assembled 1722 rings from Antiquity to 1900.
Since then, later generations of the family have continued to expand the collection, now including rings from the 20th and 21st centuries.
A must-visit for jewellery lovers! ✨

The exhibition brings together more than 250 brooches spanning over 3,000 years, offering a fascinating journey through the evolution of this singular form of jewellery. Highlights include masterpieces by René Lalique, Carlo Giuliano, Cartier, Dalí, Suzanne Belperron, Fabergé, Calder, and Bhagat, to name just a few.

If you find yourself in London, this is an exhibition not to be missed. While photography is not permitted, the beautifully produced catalogue is available for £10, with proceeds going to The King’s Trust.

The exhibition runs until 12th October at 60 St James’s Street, London SW1A 1LE, open from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is free. Don’t miss your chance to see these incredible jewels in person. 💎

Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to visit the renowned Schmuckmuseum in Pforzheim.

Known as the “Goldstadt” (Golden City), Pforzheim has played a key role in the development of the jewellery industry. Its legacy dates back to 1767, when Margrave Karl Friedrich of Baden authorized the creation of a watch and jewellery workshop within the city’s orphanage. The initiative aimed to boost the local economy while providing skills training and employment to underprivileged youth.

Originally part of an educational effort to train jewellery designers in historical styles and global trends, the Schmuckmuseum gradually evolved into a public institution. Today, it’s the only state-run museum in the world devoted solely to the history of jewellery, featuring around 2,000 pieces that trace 5,000 years of craftsmanship.

Pforzheim remains a center for jewellery education and design. The museum is absolutely worth a visit!
