Step into the world of Marc Roos: art that moves you, layer by layer
What if art were not only visible, but also tangible and deeply felt? Belgian artist Marc Roos creates an intriguing universe where strength and subtlety come together. His sculptures, built up from distinctive layers of clay, are inspired by the robust structure of compressed cardboard and the timeless stratification of the earth itself. Each artwork radiates balance, tranquillity, and timeless beauty, with every layer revealing a new story.
A creative process shaped by freedom
Marc’s work takes shape without predetermined plans. Each sculpture is built intuitively, layer by layer. “It is a dialogue between me and the material,” Marc says. This intuitive approach gives his sculptures a vibrant, organic energy. The use of oxides in the finishing process enhances the natural textures and colours, inviting the viewer to explore and reflect. These are not merely objects to be observed, but works of art that have the power to truly move the viewer.
Recognised and awarded
Marc Roos’s work has not gone unnoticed. In 2023, he was selected for the second time for the Glass and Ceramics Biennale in Haacht. In 2024, he became one of the laureates of the Piet Staut Art Prize in the ‘Small Sculpture’ category. In 2025, he received an award during ArtistMeeting in Knokke, presented by Hugo Brutin.

The fifth edition of ArtistMeeting is coming.

From 18 – 20 June 2027, the historic Belfry of Bruges will once again welcome artists, galleries, collectors and art lovers from around the world for three days of inspiring encounters and contemporary art, bringing together hundreds of artists and dozens of international galleries during the second edition of Flanders Art Festival.

The 2027 edition takes place at an exceptional moment for the city. While the Bruges Triennial transforms the historic centre into an international stage for contemporary art, masterpieces from the Groeningemuseum will be exhibited at BRUSK during the museum’s renovation. Together, they make Bruges one of Europe’s most exciting cultural destinations.

More than 7,500 visitors joined us during the previous edition of ArtistMeeting, creating three inspiring days filled with contemporary art, meaningful encounters and an international atmosphere in the heart of Bruges.
