CERAMICS, GLASS AND SCREEN PRINTING « Matrix of a Matrix »
A fully immersive experience.
Art-Marotte Residency Space is organizing a masterclass led by Kristina Mar, Kristina Mar
from August 17 to 21, 2026, in Braives (Belgium), hosted in an 18th-century château.

Limited to 8 participants.

This 5-day intensive masterclass explores the poetic intersection between ceramic screen printing and slumped glass technology — a dialogue between image and volume, surface and mass.

Participants engage in a complete creative process: from mould theory and silk application on wet clay, to photo-emulsion screen preparation, kiln logic, and glass slumping over ceramic forms.

The workshop culminates in the development of a sculptural composition integrating fired ceramics, slumped glass and raw plaster elements. Each material retains its distinct presence while contributing to a unified body of work.

Process is not concealed — it becomes content.
Material transformation, tension and trace remain visible.

✨ Heading to Montelupo, Italy — a land of ceramics, history, and light.

I’ll spend three weeks in artistic residency: a time for creation and transmission around the Japanese bowl — a form both essential and meditative.
Beyond working with clay, this creative retreat will nourish the future of Art-Marotte, at the Château de Braives in Belgium.

Drawing inspiration from Italian gestures, encounters, and landscapes…
to imagine, soon in Belgium, a place where heritage and creation converse.

Comment créer un lieu qui vous ressemble et qui nous ressemble ! En trouvant l’inspiration à travers le voyage !
Art-Marotte aura bientôt la chance d’être représenté en résidence à Montelupo Fiorentino (Italie), à la suite d’un prix obtenu lors de l’exposition internationale de Manises (Espagne). Cette présence n’est pas seulement un signe de reconnaissance : elle s’inscrit dans la mission essentielle d’Art-Marotte — → construire un réseau international fort, → découvrir de l’intérieur d’autres modèles de résidences, → s’inspirer des lieux qui font dialoguer savoir-faire, patrimoine et création contemporaine. Explorer ces espaces, rencontrer leurs artistes, comprendre leurs rythmes et leurs structures nourrit directement la vision du futur Art-Marotte à Braives. C’est en circulant, en observant et en échangeant que se construit un lieu de résidence vivant. Nous partagerons très bientôt des nouvelles de cette étape italienne et des inspirations qui en émergeront.

Art-Marotte will soon be represented in an artist residency in Montelupo Fiorentino (Italy), following a prize awarded at the international exhibition in Manises (Spain).
This presence is more than a mark of recognition:
it is part of the essential mission of Art-Marotte —
→ to build a strong international network,
→ to discover from within how other residencies operate,
→ to draw inspiration from places where craft, heritage, and contemporary creation come together.
Exploring these spaces, meeting their artists, and understanding their rhythms and structures directly nourishes the vision of the future Art-Marotte in Braives.
It is by travelling, observing, and exchanging that a living residency space is built.

Du Japon à la Mehaigne, du silence du chawan au souffle du four à bois. Les gestes, les cultures et les influences voyagent
La fondatrice du lieu, Fabienne Withofs, a vécu au Japon il y a plus de trente ans. C’est là que s’est formé son regard sur la céramique : respect du geste, beauté de l’imperfection, dialogue entre matière et esprit.
Aujourd’hui, deux de ses chawan sont exposés à Kyoto, à la Galerie Toseiki — un lien vibrant entre passé et présent, entre Orient et Occident.
C’est aussi cela, Art-Marotte : un espace de continuité, où la mémoire des mains d’hier inspire celles d’aujourd’hui.

Gestures and cultures move — from Japan to the Mehaigne valley, from the silence of the chawan to the breath of the wood-fired kiln.
The founder of the place, Fabienne Withofs, lived in Japan more than thirty years ago. There, her vision of ceramics took shape — rooted in the respect for gesture, the beauty of imperfection, and the rhythm of slow making.
Today, two of her chawan bowls are being exhibited in Kyoto, at Toseiki Gallery — a living bridge between past and present, between East and West.
This dialogue between cultures and materials lies at the heart of Art-Marotte : a place where the memory of hands past continues to inspire the hands of today.
