We had to hold our tongue for quite some time on this one, but we're finally in the clear! Nostalgia for the Future , the sophomore film of Brecht Debackere , will have its world premiere at Festival de Cannes 2026, in the Cannes Classics section !

Nostalgia for the Future is a descent into the labyrinthine world of Chris Marker - the "best-known author of unknown films" - through the personal documents and film fragments he left behind. A meditation on memory, identity, and the power our past images hold over the futures we imagine.
