Together with and for Danse La Pluie, a while ago, we created content for the immersive room of the exhibition “De Oudheid in Kleur” at the Gallo-Roman Museum of Tongeren. Tasked with bringing an ancient Roman villa to life, we collaborated closely with the museum’s historians to ensure historical accuracy.
We animated the scene using elements of nature—sun, moon, and rain. The day and night cycle played a crucial role in conveying a correct sense of scale, with shadows cast across the projection enhancing the spatial perception.
Adding to the authenticity, we projected rain onto a printed vinyl floor that resembled the ancient flooring. The reflections on the floor seamlessly matched the walls, completing the immersive experience and transporting visitors back in time, a time where not everything was marble white.
