To Be Antwerp started in 2016 with the mission of supporting young graduates from the and by giving them the opportunity to exhibit their work throughout Antwerp’s Theater District.

Since then, the initiative has continued to uphold this mission in close collaboration with all participating locations, creating a dynamic platform for emerging artists within the city’s creative and cultural landscape.

On the photos you see the beautiful venue of - who invited jewellery designer . Edition November 2025. "Traditional techniques such as embroidery, braiding and weaving are central to my work. I am drawn to their slowness and rhythm, a pace that allows me to think with my hands. These techniques also carry a deep cultural history and a shared visual language. I seek to engage that heritage not by rejecting it, but by questioning, reinterpreting, and transforming it through my own perspective."

"Temple of The Non-Useful" by at during .

A bright-red pillar consisting out of 8 vertical wooden segments arranged side by side. "Ruins taught me that time reveals rather than erases; what remains is line, volume and geometry. Likewise, my pillar is a figure of uselessness, a form liberated from function but not from presence. It stands as an autonomous companion, a silent object that neither instructs nor explains."

Michael Marcy's pop-up is located at Mechelsesteenweg 45, where you can find a great collection of twentieth-century design and modernism.

wms (°2002, Oud-Turnhout) works from a fascination with muscles and their form. Not the perfect body, but the anatomy behind it takes center stage. Sculpture and fitness meet in the act of shaping and control, giving rise to a personal interpretation of muscle groups and physical training.

(b. 1999, Bonheiden) is a visual artist who lives and works in Putte.

In her work, she explores the humor and alienation hidden within everyday situations. What originated from an intimate search for origins and memory unfolded into an investigation into the fragile dynamics of family and self-image. Using acrylic on canvas, she creates colorful, figurative compositions in which recognition and absurdity converge.

A recurring grid pattern in the clothing of her characters symbolizes kinship and repetition within family life. “Inspired by contemporary visual culture, I explore how humor can function as a form of reflection, solace, and criticism.”

Mijn allermooiste stralend rood,
Roep mij, mijn stralend rood, roep mij!

Throwback to the last weekend of November when invited . Wish to see more by Diede? Diede’s paintings are currently on view until 20/12 during the exhibition ‘After Painting After Painting’.

Kunst in Huis is a Belgian organization that makes contemporary art accessible by allowing people and businesses to borrow or rent original artworks for their home or office. It works like an art library, offering a large collection of art (often works by Belgian artists), with the option to swap artworks regularly or buy them if you wish.

📍Everdijstraat 30, Antwerp

Diede Mondelaers (Lier, 2003) collects images of everyday objects from his immediate surroundings, which he then photographs and digitally transforms into abstract, pictogram-like shapes. These digital collages form the basis of his paintings, where classic Flemish landscapes, commonplace street views, and ordinary still lifes are morphed into vivid, uncanny compositions in disparate colours.

Every year new locations join . This year we were happy to welcome .de.jaeger with their new space at Bourlastraat 7, Antwerp. At Galerie Steven de Jaeger you’ll discover Steven’s jewellery practice, contemporary illustration and ceramics.

For To Be Antwerp, Steven invited Elvira Mulkay. Elvira Mulkay (Antwerp,Watou, 2001) graduated in sculpture and works at the intersection of play and form. Her practice combines colour, contrast, and diverse materials. Influenced by industry, design, fashion, and her personal collections, she develops a visual language where drawing and sculpture complement each other.

Thank you for joining .de.jaeger and 🤍🤍🤍
