NICC has received positive news: in the coming policy period we will receive structural support from the Flemish Government.
«NICC has lived up to its unique position in the field. It is the only Belgian artist-run organisation that places the interests of the artist central on its agenda. Based on the lived experience of artists' practices it became the spokesperson of visual artists. It is in this capacity that it is also taken as a serious discussion partner by policymakers.» hey?
Over the next 5 years we will develop our program under the motto 'diversity is an opportunity'. The themes to which we will link a reflective program of lectures, exhibitions and publications are: diversity in the contemporary arts landscape, gender diversity, decolonization, mental health, ecology and art activism
We see this as our most important responsibility. We are an organisation by and for the visual artists and will continue to do our best to fulfill this definition.
At the same time, it is difficult to be recklessly happy knowing that a number of colleagues have lost their funding: Jubilee, Etablissement d'en Face, … We express an intention to cooperate with the organisations that have not been given the funding and think together about self-reliance of individual artists and artist-run organisations.
