Exhibition view of Absence, Returned, an exhibition at C A S S T L by Yves de Brabander yves de brabander and Cédric Jacquemyn CEDRIC JACQUEMYN.

Absence, Returned considers the fragile space between disappearance and presence. It reflects on what has been removed, concealed or forgotten, while tracing the forms through which traces endure. A return is never a simple restoration; what comes back carries the memory of its absence.

C A S S T L is pleased to present Absence, Returned, a new exhibition by Antwerp-based artists Yves de Brabander (yves de brabander) and Cedric Jacquemyn (CEDRIC JACQUEMYN), opening during Antwerp Pride 2026.

Yves de Brabander and Cedric Jacquemyn have lived and worked alongside one another for many years. Their practices have developed in close proximity, shaped by a shared attention to material, transformation and the relationship between presence and disappearance.

Absence, Returned considers what remains after something has disappeared: a garment without a body, an image removed from its original context, a fragment carrying the presence of something incomplete.

Absence, Returned forms part of TOGETHER, a city-wide initiative supporting the LGBTQIA+ community, through which a network of Antwerp art spaces unite in the context of Antwerp Pride (Antwerp Pride).

Participating galleries and art spaces: AAIMACHINE, Annie Gentils Gallery, BURO_ASAP, C A S S T L, Kunsthal Extra City, Pizza Gallery, Melis & Piron, Studio Palermo, TICK TACK.

⏱️ Opening: Thursday, August 6 from 18:00 till 22:00.
🗓️ On view until September 11.
📍 Visit us at Braziliëstraat 27, 2000 Antwerp, open Wednesday to Friday, from 12:00-17:00.

NOW ON VIEW: C A S S T L is pleased to present for the first time in Belgium the work of the celebrated Spanish artist collective Equipo 57.

Created in 1957, and lasting until 1962, Equipo 57 was a milestone in the history of artistic modernity in Spain. Equipo 57 positioned itself along an experimental line, favoring a certain interdisciplinarity that sought to bring together artistic and scientific research. Making use of a rigorous abstract geometric language, Equipo 57 defended a type of art with a strong social and political commitment.

Curated by Antoni Ferrer (), the exhibition will bring together a selection of works, including paintings, gouaches, and film—alongside materials that provide historical context. This project is made in collaboration with Galería Rafael Ortiz () and the generous support of the Spanish Embassy in Belgium ().

Opening: Thursday, May 14 from 18:00 till 21:00

On view until June 19.
