Grafixx is proudly showcasing Belgium based artists at the 53rd edition of 𝗕𝗼𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗵𝘂 art fair in Nanjing, China: 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲 𝗗𝘂𝗺𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗿, 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝗟𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘀, 𝗘𝗿𝗶𝗸𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗿, 𝗚𝗮𝗯𝗿𝗶 𝗠𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁

𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗥𝗟𝗢𝗧𝗧𝗘 𝗗𝗨𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗜𝗘𝗥 (BE)
Populated by energetic characters and bold shapes, Charlotte Dumortier’s playful drawings bring a sense of humour and spontaneity to each project. Working across media, she often explores themes of food, nature, and the body. Her colourful illustrations have been commissioned by Apple,
The New Yorker, The New York Times, Süddeutsche Zeitung, and more. Dumortier likes to experiment with printmaking, risography, and has a love for collaborative projects.

𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗔𝗥𝗔 𝗟𝗔𝗠𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗦 (BE)
The paintings, drawings, and sculptural works made by Chiara Lammens explore the porous boundary between the natural and imagined world. Her meticulously rendered scenes often depict landscapes in vivid colour combinations, evoking a parallel environment that feels both ancient
and strangely contemporary. She draws inspiration from comics, prehistoric imagery, and genre painting, weaving them into a personal and mythic visual language.

𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗞𝗔 𝗖𝗢𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗘𝗥 (BE)
Active since the late 1990s, Erika Cotteleer’s practice spans books, educational projects, and a growing body of autonomous drawing and painting. Her recent work is noted for raw, confrontational images in which women unapologetically claim space. Cotteleer is focused on powerful mixed-media portraits of overlooked heroines, always with a direct mark-making energy and an eye for the untold.

𝗚𝗔𝗕𝗥𝗜 𝗠𝗢𝗟𝗜𝗦𝗧 (ES)
Gabri Molist is an artist exploring the boundaries of narrative through experimental drawing, performance, publication, and curation. In his work the traditional relationship between character, story, and layout is deliberately destabilised. He is a founding member of .space , an art space dedicated to contemporary comics and art. His publications include 𝑨𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒊𝒂, 𝑫𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒊𝒓 𝒆𝒔 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒓, and 𝑳𝒂 𝒑𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒂 𝒅𝒆 𝒍𝒂 𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒖𝒂.

𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗛𝗧 𝗩𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗡𝗕𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗖𝗞𝗘 (BE)
The vivid, satirical worlds that Brecht Vandenbroucke creates, blend pop-cultural imagery with sharp social critique. His work draws on Disney cartoons and surrealism, resulting in dense scenes packed with humour and bright colours. Vandenbroucke examines themes such as social inequality, digital culture, consumerism, and the absurdity of modern life. His illustrations have appeared in The New York Times, Wired, and Variety, and in his comic books 𝙒𝙝𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝘾𝙪𝙗𝙚 (2013) and 𝙎𝙝𝙖𝙙𝙮 (2021).

𝗖É𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗘 𝗛𝗨𝗗𝗥É𝗔𝗨𝗫 (FR)
Visual artist and printmaker Céline Hudréaux is a printmaker, favouring the materiality of traditional print techniques as a counterweight to the digital image. Her imagery draws on primitive and folk art along with dreamlike motifs, often circling the tension between human and nature, and the thresholds between life and death. Hudréaux has published two graphic novels, 𝙄𝙩’𝙨 𝙉𝙤𝙩 𝙖𝙣 𝙊𝙘𝙚𝙖𝙣 (2013) and 𝙈𝙖𝙚𝙡𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙢 (2019), and is currently working on her new book 𝙕𝙞𝙣𝙘.

𝗘𝗣𝗛𝗔𝗠𝗘𝗥𝗢𝗡 (BE)
Ephameron explores the fragile, intimate moments that shape human life, capturing themes of memory, loss, care and transition. The acclaimed graphic novel translated as 𝙐𝙨 𝙏𝙬𝙤 𝙏𝙤𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 (2019) recounts her father’s struggle with dementia. Other publications, such as 𝙧𝙚/𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 (2017) and 𝙉𝙤𝙤𝙞𝙩 𝙈𝙚𝙚𝙧 𝘼𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙚𝙣 (2021), examine motherhood and the passage of time. She has worked for numerous international clients, including The New York Times, Nike, Kartell, and The School of Life.

𝗝𝗔𝗡 𝗩𝗔𝗡 𝗗𝗘𝗥 𝗩𝗘𝗞𝗘𝗡 (BE)
create retrofuturistic designs for posters, book covers, and editorial commissions. He founded 𝙁𝙖𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙖 𝙂𝙧𝙖𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙖 in 1999 and has worked internationally while maintaining a distinctly personal visual universe. Van Der Veken’s illustrations have appeared in leading magazines, including two covers for The New Yorker.

For the 53rd edition of the 𝗕𝗼𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗵𝘂 art fair, Grafixx brings a vibrant spectrum of contemporary illustration to Nanjing, China.

This delegation of artists shares a curiosity for drawing, comics and narrative. Their works offer distinct ways of looking at the everyday, from sensitive drawing and experimental printmaking to figurative painting.

De geselecteerde makers delen een honger naar tekenen, strips en narrativiteit. Hun werk biedt uiteenlopende manieren om naar het alledaagse te kijken, van gevoelige tekeningen en experimenteel drukwerk tot figuratieve schilderkunst.

✏️ 𝗝𝗮𝗻 𝗩𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝗿 𝗩𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗻, 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗲 𝗡𝗼𝗹𝗹 & 𝗣𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲 maken elk op hun eigen manier gebruik van digitale programma’s om illustraties te maken of af te werken. Hoe zetten zij de beschikbare tools in? Maakt Photoshop het leven gemakkelijker, of net sterieler? Welke best practiceshanteren deze drie tekenaars, welke trends omarmen ze of proberen ze net te omzeilen?

✏️ 𝗝𝗮𝗻 𝗩𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝗿 𝗩𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗻 vermengt het erfgoed van de ligne claire met de Atoomstijl, en komt zo tot retrofuturistische beelden die hij inzet voor posters, boekomslagen en persillustraties. Zijn nostalgische en tegelijk tijdloze beelduniversum staat bekend om een uiterst gecontroleerde lijnvoering en elegante personages.

Twee illustratoren, één exclusief dubbelgesprek om niet te missen! 𝗟𝗨𝗞𝗔𝗦 𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗘𝗧𝗘 & 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥 𝗠𝗘𝗨𝗟𝗘𝗡 gaan in dialoog over hun gemeenschappelijke geschiedenis doorheen de generaties
🎤 𝘇𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗴 𝟴 𝗳𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗶 𝟭𝟱:𝟬𝟬 𝗶𝗻 𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘇𝗮𝗮𝗹 𝘃𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝘂𝗿𝗵𝘂𝗶𝘀 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗸𝗸𝗲𝗿
🎤 De paden van beide HUMO-tekenaars kruisten al vaker, en tijdens deze lezing kom je alles te weten over hun bijzondere verwantschap.

𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗲𝘂𝗹𝗲𝗻 (°1946) groeide sinds de jaren ’70 uit tot een grootheid in de Belgische
stripwereld. Zijn aerodynamische beelden vol snelle auto’s, mooie vrouwen en swingende
muziek bepaalden de stijl van het weekblad HUMO, maar sierden ook covers van The New
Yorker. Vandaag leeft hij zich vooral uit in vrij werk en oldtimers.

𝗟𝘂𝗸𝗮𝘀 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗲𝘁𝗲 (°1992) bevolkt zijn tekeningen met groteske figuren. Hij laat hierin zijn
twijfels los over de menselijke natuur en tracht een antwoord te bieden op het doel van
ons bestaan. Daarvoor maakt hij gretig gebruik van een portie naïviteit, vettigheid,
melancholiek en jolijt.
