Painter Dreams occur during the rapid-eye-movement sleep. We want to see recognizable figures, but we can't really see them.

During this moment we see abstract shapes and patterns moving.The brain makes connections between different kind of memories and we want to make a logical explanation out of it, but the appearance becomes more and more absurd. This confusing aspect of the dream, where the subconscious and conscious meet each other, is what I want to show in my paintings. With acrylic paint I place layers against e

ach other and on top of each other. It is a game of creation and destruction. Because this medium dries quickly, I can easily put many layers on top of each other, both thick and thin layers. With a direct action I place brushstrokes on a finely woven canvas. You can clearly see this compared to the slower actions that are used to obtain color shades in multiple layers. Intense colors are important to me because it affects our emotional side, often related to our unconscious side of personality.

Ik weet niet of het jullie al is opgevallen... Maar het is eigenlijk weer een lange tijd geleden dat het regende... De aarde onder ons voeten krijgt momenteel maar weinig water. Met andere woorden, we kunnen wel wat Regeritme gebruiken... Regenritme ontstond vanuit de fascinatie voor de regenboogslang, die volgens de droomtijd van de Aborignals de wereld schiep. Deze slang vormde de rivieren, de gebergte, het landschap, de zeeën. Af en toe kan je hem nog zien: als een regenboog, die van plas tot plas reist. Slakken kruipen bij regen uit de struiken tevoorschijn, insecten zijn zoals de bloemachtige planten aan het dichtklappen, maar zachtjes wordt er op het vensterglas getikt, het zijn mijn vingernagels die een eigen ritme willen aanduiden.
