the tortured poets department
Back in 2023, i had the brilliant idea of making a drawing from every Taylor Swift era. Going chronologically, i stranded after Lover and didn't get 'round to folklore and beyond. Earlier this year, however, i figured it was not only time to continue, but to redo it all. Cause in all honesty, most of my drawings from back then were crap and i'm better now. And i wanted to do these drawings justice.
Rather than starting back with debut, i just went with what felt right, which was the tortured poets department.
It wasn't easy choosing the right reference for this project, as there were a lot of interesting shots, but in the end i landed on this close-up. While it took me a heaping 60+ hours, the details i was able to pour into this were a joy, and i hope you can see them in the close-up shots i added. From the skin texture, to the hair, they pushed my abilities to their limits. And while this is no perfect drawing and i still messed up in parts, i think i did this album proud with this drawing.
And i'm quite certain that in due time, i'll revisit this album and do another drawing of it. It won't be anytime soon, but you may get a pt2 someday.
and if you ask my expert opinion, yes ttpd is her best work to date and no, it's not too long. just putting the facts out there.
what's the next era i should tackle? leave a comment and i might just go with marjorie - i mean the majority.
if you like this drawing, feel free to share it! in fact, it would be super cool if y'all shared it into oblivion till taylor throws me a like or a comment 🩶 (she won't, but nothing ventured nothing gained)
and should you feel so inclined, you can leave something in my tipjar @ buymeacoffee.com/nickvreys Cause I really like coffee and this drawing had lots of caffeinated late nights, wailing my goodbyes to London for three fortnights.
