Remembering the Soldiers Who Never Came Home
On a solemn Saturday afternoon, the remains of six U.S. service members killed during an attack in the Middle East were returned to American soil at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware. Among them were Sgt. Declan Coady of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Maj. Jeffrey O’Brien of Waukee, Iowa, whose loss deeply affected their home communities.
They were joined by four fellow soldiers from the same unit: Capt. Cody Khork of Winter Haven, Florida; Sgt. 1st Class Nicole Amor of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; Sgt. 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens of Bellevue, Nebraska; and Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert Marzan of Sacramento, California. Together they served in demanding roles supporting U.S. operations overseas.
The dignified transfer at Dover marked the moment the fallen returned home, honoring their service and sacrifice while reminding the nation of the cost carried by military families.
