It’s always an emotional rollercoaster closing a show. What a ride this has been since we first workshopped back in April.
Our team was comprised of some of the most talented artists I’ve ever come across.
Katia - Thank you for leading us through this process with grace, humor and your artistry. Your love for this story and the ensemble brought an incredible energy.
Annie-Grace: Your Kensley exuded the love that was in my mind from day one. You allowed this story to be told with ultimate empathy and it was a blast every step of the way.
Annette: Watching you portray Ariana was a privilege. You added so much depth to a mysterious character and allowed her story to blossom.
Mari: Your humor and craft is undeniable. You created someone unique with Tatum and the audiences loved you for it.
Alexandra: It’s been a joy watching you grow into a serious actor. Jessa was written directly for you and you made me extremely proud. Joanna Garthwaite Rooney
Susan Neuffer - Every time you exited the stage, I couldn’t wait for you to return. Thank you for brining Stella to life with such vulnerability.
To my lifelines, Rose Hart and Philip Lauto. There are no words. Your belief in the art I create is immeasurable. Your music is healing.
To our SM crew, Richard Urquiza (so proud to have seen you direct) and Candy Dato and our PM crew, Nour and Kate, you led us with ease.
To Curtis Howard, our hero every day in creating this world.
To Hayley, for designing a set I couldn’t stop staring at.
To Yang, for creating a visual world through lighting and metaphor that always surpasses my expectations.
To Trey, for your intricate sound work that always elevated the scene.
To Qixin, for teaching me, for creating stunning projections that this play would be empty without.
To Rheanna Salazar, Courtnie, Colleen Wright, Carole Real, Chelsea Renae and Chloe Danielle Dunbar: it was remarkable watching you take the stage as understudies.
So so so many more people to thank.
I’d like to end by saying that every piece of art we create is only beneficial if we lead with our hearts. I watched each performance and was astounded by the love put on that stage. I love this play. I am so proud to have shared it with all of you. Let’s continue to heal each other. I love you.
