Perseus Gallery is proud to present works by Malaysian contemporary artist Jameson Yap at Hamptons Fine Art Fair 2026.
Visit us at Booth 413.

Jameson Yap is recognized for his powerful abstract calligraphy-driven works that reinterpret traditional Chinese calligraphy through a contemporary visual language.

Born in Malaysia in 1981, Jameson brings over 30 years of dedication to his artistic practice. His signature “River-stroke” technique is inspired by the rhythm and flow of rivers — bold, gestural brushwork transforming calligraphy into movement, emotion, and energy.
His works explore identity, cultural memory, heritage, and human connection, bridging ancient traditions with contemporary expression. Moving beyond literal readability, his compositions invite viewers to experience rhythm, balance, tension, and emotional resonance rather than language alone.

Following five successful solo exhibitions across Asia, Jameson’s works have entered private collections across the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia, with his international presence continuing to grow.

At a time when many traditional art forms risk becoming symbolic rather than lived cultural experiences, Jameson’s practice reconnects contemporary audiences with heritage through movement, abstraction, and feeling.

The 2026 art fair season marks another important chapter for Perseus Gallery as we continue expanding our presence across major art fairs in the United States. Over the years, we have built our reputation by carefully selecting events that provide real exposure, access to serious collectors, and strong sales opportunities for our artists. This upcoming season, Perseus Gallery will present works in some of the most recognized art markets in the country, including the Hamptons, Chicago, and Miami during Art Basel Week.

Each of these events offers a unique audience and valuable opportunities for artists seeking to strengthen their market position, increase visibility, and connect with collectors, curators, and industry professionals. Whether you are looking to visit us during these events or explore participation opportunities as an exhibiting artist, we look forward to another season of meaningful connections and successful presentations.

Perseus Gallery is pleased to present the work of Vida Fargis at the Hamptons Fine Art Fair.
Vida Fargis is both an artist and a fabric designer whose creative practice is deeply rooted in nature. Each design, each vision begins like a plant grown in her own garden. Her art is shaped by the soil, textures, and organic rhythms surrounding her — an intimate dialogue between cultivation and creation.
Vida began her formal artistic training at just thirteen years old. Life later led her on a very different path as a corporate businesswoman and entrepreneur, traveling across more than 60 countries before eventually settling in a quiet corner of upstate New York, where she fully immersed herself in the intertwined worlds of art and plants.

Collectors and fellow artists often describe her work as subtle, enigmatic, and richly layered with color. Her compositions carry both stillness and complexity — balancing refinement with emotional depth.

As Vida describes her own practice:
“While I’ve had numerous solo exhibitions, been selected for juried competitions, and participated in gallery and museum shows, I remain forever at the beginning of my journey. Every new piece starts with something unknown waiting to emerge. Given my background, I constantly seek new ways to weave together an urban vision and my life in the country. I believe there is a better way to reconstruct and balance our lives in today’s broken world.”

Her work reflects this philosophy — a continuous search for harmony between movement and stillness, city and nature, structure and intuition.

Artists frequently discuss booth prices, application fees, deadlines, and sales results. What is discussed much less often are the realities faced by the people responsible for producing these events. Most visitors experience an art fair as a few days of exhibitions, networking, collector events, and carefully curated presentations. What they do not see is that these events are often the result of an entire year of preparation, financial risk, logistical planning, staffing challenges, venue negotiations, and crisis management.

The art world loves to criticize art fairs, but very few people stop to consider how complex they are to produce. Behind every successful event stands an enormous operation involving hundreds of people, countless decisions, and responsibilities that most attendees will never have to think about.
Today, we would like to share five realities of the art fair business that are rarely discussed openly.

“Art is just a place where rich people launder money.”
Simple answer: YES. AND?
I’ve heard this statement hundreds of times.
Usually from people who have never bought a work of art, never supported an artist, never donated to a museum, and have no idea how taxes, accounting, business expenses, or the art market actually work.👹

So let’s have an uncomfortable conversation.
Yes, money laundering exists. But the reality of the art market is far more complicated and far 🫸🏻less glamorous 🫷🏻than most people imagine.

For Sabrina Seck, painting has been a lifelong passion. From an early age, she demonstrated a remarkable talent for color and composition, continuously exploring new materials, techniques, and forms of artistic expression. Through years of experimentation with paints, varnishes, and textures, she developed a distinctive visual language that has become the hallmark of her work today.

Sabrina’s vibrant abstract compositions invite viewers into a dynamic dialogue between color, form, and emotion. Her expressive paintings balance the abstract and the concrete, creating works that are both visually striking and deeply engaging. Rich in movement, energy, and optimism, her art serves as a celebration of creativity, joy, and human connection.

Today, Sabrina Seck is actively represented at exhibitions and international art fairs and has received multiple prestigious recognitions, including the Leonardo da Vinci Award in Italy and the Excellent Award presented by the Theme Museum Korea.

This July, Perseus Gallery is pleased to present British contemporary artist Petra Barguss-Comerford at Booth 413 during Hamptons Fine Art Fair 2026, taking place July 9–12.creates
Known for her large-scale ink, watercolor, and acrylic works, Petra creates ethereal female silhouettes suspended within richly layered decorative surfaces, balancing sensuality, femininity, quiet strength, and atmospheric elegance.

Her studies at Chelsea School of Art and UWE in the UK, specializing in fashion textile design, surface pattern, and anatomical life drawing, continue to shape her distinctive visual language. Influenced by extensive travel, Petra draws inspiration from the oceans of Southeast Asia, the cave paintings of Uluru, Eastern spiritualism, and the glamour and vintage elegance of classic James Bond films.
Recently expanding her practice into acrylic on canvas, Petra introduces greater depth and texture while preserving the fluidity and dreamlike quality of her original ink and watercolor works.

Based in Westport, Connecticut, Petra continues to collaborate with galleries, collectors, and interior design studios while developing private commissions inspired by culture, decorative arts, travel, and the natural world.

Visit Perseus Gallery at Booth 413 during Hamptons Fine Art Fair 2026 to experience the latest works by Petra Barguss-Comerford.

The biggest mistake people make about the art world is thinking that “the art market” is one simple system with one set of rules.
It is not.🫪

The global art market is a massive structure divided into multiple ecosystems, submarkets, industries, and networks that constantly overlap with one another : galleries, auctions, collectors, institutions, fairs, advisors, logistics companies, insurance providers, sponsors, artists, and private dealers.
And one of the most misunderstood topics inside this structure is the actual role of galleries themselves.

Why do so many artists confuse galleries with patrons or investors?
Why do people still believe in the romantic idea of “50/50 partnerships”?
And who is actually responsible for financially supporting artists in today’s market?
Some important thoughts and insights I got from Christie’s Education: Introduction to the Global Art Market.
