Chapainawabganj District is an administrative region in the Rajshahi Division of northwestern Bangladesh. This district under Rajshahi division is sometimes called Nawabganj and sometimes Chapai. Many people also know Chapainawabganj as 'Mango Country'. Gambhira of Chapainawabganj is one of the genres of folk music of Bangladesh. Kalaiya bread is a very popular folk food for breakfast among the residents of Chapainawabganj district. Although the people of Chapainawabganj speak Bengali, their pronunciation is slightly different from standard Bengali. Here are the pronunciations of some of their words:

চাঁপাইনবাবগঞ্জ জেলা বাংলাদেশের উত্তর-পশ্চিমাঞ্চলের রাজশাহী বিভাগের একটি প্রশাসনিক অঞ্চল। রাজশাহী বিভাগের অন্তর্গত এই জেলাটিকে কখনো নবাবগঞ্জ এবং কখনো চাঁপাই নামেও ডাকা হয়। অনেকে চাঁপাইনবাবগঞ্জ কে 'আমের দেশ' বলেও জানে। চাঁপাইনবাবগঞ্জের গম্ভীরা বাংলাদেশের লোকসঙ্গীতের অন্যতম একটি ধারা। চাঁপাইনবাবগঞ্জ জেলার বাসিন্দাদের মধ্যে সকালের নাস্তায় কালাইয়ের রুটি খুবই জনপ্রিয় একটি লোকজ খাবার। চাঁপাইনবাবগঞ্জের মানুষেরা বাংলাতে কথা বললেও তাদের উচ্চারণশৈলী প্রমিত বাংলা থেকে একটু আলাদা। তাদের কিছু শব্দের উচ্চারণ এখানে দেয়া হলঃ
হামি = আমি, হাঁকে/হামাকে = আমাকে, হাঁরঘে = আমাদের, অ্যাইগন্যা = উঠান, আইলস্যা = অলস, উফাদিক = অকর্মন্য, বেহুদ্দা = বদমাইশ, ড্যারমা/মোটাহুস/হুসমোটা = কাণ্ডজ্ঞানহীন ব্যক্তি, কান্টা = বাড়ির পিছনের জায়গা, গঁঢ়্যা = ছোট ডোবা, ছুঁড়ি = কুমারী মেয়ে, ঘাঁটা = রাস্তা, ঢুঁইড়া = খোঁজ করা, পঁহাত = সকাল, জাফত = দওয়াত।
এই অঞ্চলের ভাষায় এক প্রকার মধুরতর টান বিদ্যমান। তাই এই ভাষাকে বিনোদনের মাধ্যমে সবার মাঝে ছড়িয়ে দেওয়ার উদ্দেশ্যে আমার এই স্বল্প চেষ্টা মাত্র, ভাষাকে ছোট করার জন্য নয়। এই ভাষা আমাদের গর্ব, আমাদের প্রান।
