Our Honorable Film Festival Advisor Mr. Pothik Shahidul
Pothik Shahidul, a Bangladeshi film director, cultural organizer, researcher, and media practitioner with over 27+ years of active engagement in theatre, cinema, and community culture. His creative foundation was shaped through theatre performance and journalism, which later evolved into a strong filmmaking practice.
He holds a Diploma in Film Direction (2016 - 2018) from the Bangladesh Cinema & Television Institute (BCTI) under the Ministry of Information, Bangladesh, and an MA in Philosophy (1991 - 1992) from the University of Rajshahi.
As a director, his work focuses on rural life, human connections with rivers, childhood imagination, and professions that are disappearing. His films carry a poetic observation of nature, memory, and social transition.
As an Advisor to the German & Bangladesh International Film Festival, he contributes to festival programming, curated selection, cross-cultural collaboration, co production planning, and artistic communication between nations. His guidance highlights independent voices and emerging filmmakers.
